There is no denying the fact that every program has a great number of people that are working on it in order to create a very qualitative product. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is to understand key principles of the good program’s organization and to find out what a person can learn from this process. In order to see this point clearly, one episode of the famous TV program will be discussed here.
“The Tonight Show” is ruled by Jimmy Fallon at NBC and it is a very popular program nowadays. In fact, its huge popularity can be simply explained by its strict organizational process. For instance, a lot of moments in this TV show seem to be improvisational ones. But to be frank, it is the result of the hard work of the program’s staff. Thus, the main hook in the program’s organization is to create effective management and to hire the best professionals in this field. There are also a few arguments that are very persuasive here. First, we can observe easily that opening titles are useful for viewers. They introduce the main points of the current episode of this program and its host. Furthermore, there is a music band that plays during the program. These musicians are real professionals and their main task is to create beautiful background around the host and other moments in the episode. Another essential point is about transitions between sectors. Actually, they are smooth and do not interrupt the entire point and atmosphere of the show. In addition, I also want to admit that volumes of voices of the host and his co-host are not the same. Due to this fact, it is easier for viewers to follow the main and supporting parts of the primary topic in the particular episode.
Five Presentation “Rules”
Therefore, based on the reasons analyzed above, I may finally synthesize five presentation rules that I can personally advise to anyone who wants to create a similar program in the future.
The First Rule
The heart of every effective program’s organization is a professional and smart management. These people create core of each show, therefore the first rule is to form a splendid team of managers.
The Second Rule
Truth be told, from the viewer’s side, the most important person of the program is its host. Thus, the second rule is to hire the best person for this job according to the main purpose of the program.
The Third Rule
It is essential for the great program to put smooth transitions between different blocks of it. This rule helps to create the whole picture for viewers with accents on the most important logical parts of a show.
The Fourth Rule
Music also has a huge influence on the program’s success. Therefore, it has to be appropriate for the particular theme of the program. In addition, it does not have to interrupt dialogues or reports.
The Fifth Rule
The last but not least the rule is about the discussion topic. Thus, it has to be relevant to the type of the program. Moreover, information must be presented by the host or reporter in the simple and understandable way.
