Introduction
A healthy self-esteem is important for good mental and social well- being. It leads to positive interaction and achievement of personal goals. It will lead to proper social conduct and better health care for a quality life. A person’s happy life and self-actualization are characterized by his or her personality regarding self-cooperativeness and directness in every activity carried out in a calm way and letting go all the previous disappointments and fears.
Question 1(a). Discuss the methods of self-knowledge that can be used in mental health and wellbeing.
Mental health workers are required to use new ways to dealing with and treating illness for them to promote the welfare of a patient. Using a secondary prevention and health improving strategies that are relevant to people who have a mental problem encouraging them to have a social well-being by avoiding depression and develop skills that will help them recover among others (Slade 2010).
(b). Benefits of the methods
The methods discussed above are of importance in that they help human being have different active approaches to solving psychological problems affecting them in their daily lives. It made them feel better and motivated in attaining their success by having good behaviors upon themselves and others. In using the strategies, the individuals are assured of good health and a happy living full of competence.
c) Kinds of strategies to be used in stressful situations and how to improve them.
Analyze the cause of stress and start focusing on ways to solve the stress at that moment. Seek support from other elderly people in the family, friends or a medical advisor. It will help the person under emotional distress to control his feelings. Doing regular exercises such as running as this relaxes the body, making it be physically healthy and motivate one to progress in life. Having an internal self-blame and taking necessary action will assist an individual in adjusting to stress situations and handling it with a positive thought as part of life experience that people go through. Playing some music in the house, going for a walk, looking for a partner for hiking or going for shopping in town will help improve this emotional status.
Question 2(a). What is the importance of positive emotions in our lives and how can we increase our positivity ratio
It makes individuals live a happy life. Another importance is the engagement in having interest in an individual’s duties at a workplace. They will also develop positive relationships with the new environment making them care for one another. It makes a person realize that what he is doing is important and of great value to the community as a whole, in turn, making him feels optimistic about his future career. Finally, positive emotions will make a human being develop a healthy self-esteem and a balanced emotional stability, which will create a sense of self-belonging and competence between them.
Positivity ratio can be improved through creating opportunities to be used in having positive emotions such as gratitude and kindness when situations are tough. Being familiar with one’s positive thoughts and feelings that encourage them to have a sense of belonging to them and their friends. In learning to identify the hindrance factors to positive emotions, an individual will get to know the extraordinary things are happening in their lives and make decisions that will enable them to have control over these adverse actions. Lastly, human beings are expected to recognize that they can experience both negative and positive emotions at once. They are still supposed to remain optimistic in all life experiences to overcome these challenges through social engagement with other people (Fredrickson 2013).
(b). What is the role of optimism and hope in our life?
Optimism promotes reasons that will assist in making a realistic solution to a situation. It enhances the body immune system and prevents chronic diseases such as arthritis and hypertension that occur due to depression. Further, it enhances a better physical well-being of an individual having the strength to provide for the family and the society and achieving realistic goals. Hope on the other hand offers a real achievement in life satisfaction and considered as a tool towards the psychological well-being of people in promoting happiness and increasing life longevity (Hasnain et al. 2014).
(c). What are the character strengths and how can we use them to make a better version of ourselves
Having personal and social intelligence that will enable a person to feel valued and comfortable with any environmental situation. They will also feel and empathize with other people leading to a healthy relationship. It will also enable them to understand their needs, wishes, and strategies that they will accomplish their dreams. Another character is motivating the excellence and beauty of people. It helps them in having the strength in appreciating others skills and talents in everyday activities.
Citizenship is a third character strength that will assist members of a given society work as a team making them share civil duties and obeying one another among others. We can make a better version of ourselves by having an integral value in the services we offer to ourselves and others in the community through our modesty and openness to issues affecting us.
Question 3(a). How can relaxation techniques improve our well-being?
It promotes well-being by one, reducing stress in the human mind by using both body awareness and visual imagery. It can be realized when a person focuses on peaceful methods of controlling weight; it will enable him to slow his breathing heart rate through having enough sleep (UMMC 2016). Also, a second technique called progressive muscle relaxation gives one an idea of finding ways for slowly tensing all the muscles in toes and head, then one by one start relaxing them helping him be more careful of the physical well-being in his body among others. The techniques assist in improving a person’s stress hormone levels, pain and quality of life (Thondup, 2013).
(b). Which are practical interventions used for enhancing mental health and well-being and how do they affect our well-being?
Improving the health care services that are used in counseling and advising the affected people in the community. Coordinating health programs and planning data research activities on patients and other people that will help in carrying out investigations on matters affecting human beings most and formulating ways to solve these problems.
(c) Discuss the subjective evaluation of the whole psychology of mental health and well-being.
Psychology of mental health and wellness are the core principles of a living a better life. Individuals need to learn how to handle their emotional stress and consult on proper ways to solving the problems. For one to have a long-lasting life, he or she must ensure that all time the strong self-efficacy is maintained both externally and internally in the whole society for there to be a shared understanding among the people.
In conclusion, individuals need to practice new character approaches that will make them have a positive well-being throughout their lives. An achievement can be met if health workers and other organizations educate and train members of the society, why they should embrace positive psychology that will enable them to have a healthy living at their working places. Optimism in life also gives a self-respect and integrity to cope with life difficulties
