The awareness to the semantic knowledge is informed by the ability to control, understand and manipulate particular strategies in writing. My ability to revise the documents The Psychology of Writing, Ways of Knowing and Upcoming Visit to Sunny San Diego were informed by the knowledge around the process of narrative writing. The declarative, conditional and procedural principles in the Upcoming Visit to Sunny San Diego reflects a revision reflecting the communicative context that stresses on the functional task of communication. This is succinctly illustrated in the quote that was edited to address the role, imagery and designs of the visit. “The Science Museum offers an incredible four-dimensional Zable movie theater. You can also experience some culture at the Japanese Friendship Garden which expresses the friendship between San Diego and its sister city Yokohama, Japan. With so much to offer, Balboa Park is must see tourist destination”.
The knowledge of the text structure created an environment where I revised Ways of Knowing to enhance the awareness of the audience as well as the purpose of the writing process within the context of different scopes of metacognitive process. In light of Gong and Dragga (p. 71), it is plausible that the mechanics of communicative writing were imperative in the writings for purposes of creative deconstruction. The overview of the rhetorical concepts evident in the texts manifests a visualization whose editing mapped out the collaborative and cooperative procedures to explore the cannons of style, memory, arrangement and delivery as evidenced in the excerpt, “ One memorable experience that I have of participated in is skydiving. I did some research into skydiving and familiarized myself with the nomenclature of the parts of the parachute and their functions. I learned that you must complete a tandem jump with an instructor before you are able to go by yourself”.
I went to the extent to emphasis the person variables while editing the texts. This served the function of recognizing the strengths and weakness in information learning and processing. As evidenced in Gong and Dragaa (p.129), the extensive element of person variable enhanced the personal life of the author to illustrate the ideas of language of rhetoric and composition. This enabled my focus on the distinction between knowledge and participation by observing the role of the audience to identify with the information. This is clear in the expert “I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for two years gaining knowledge by participation. I previously had never been out of the country before and had little knowledge about Japan or its culture. One of the first things I learned about was bowing as a greeting or as a sign of respect. I learned that if you are bowing to a person elder than you, it is disrespectful if you do not bow deeper than the elder”.
My underlying pointer was the task variable that shaped the trajectory of my editing. As evidenced in the texts, I wanted to make sure that the audience can point out the nature of information for purposes of processing the demands in completing the reading and comprehension. The rhetorical situation in writing caters for a wide range of readership. The use of illustration, typography and design choice make processing of information a lot easier hence were retained in the revision exercise. The basis for such retention was to allow the readers to integrate both visual and verbal information clearly manifested in the excerpt, “I would describe my writing style as a classical. It is actually the only type I use and am familiar with. In the example I used, my audience already knew what I was trying to communicate to them: why the equipment was broken, what needed to happen to fix it and what schematics or documentation I used to troubleshoot and conclude my isolation of the casualty”.
The strategic variable informed my writing. The principle of metacognitive processes requires the application of flexible approaches for the purpose of accomplishing the writing task. Throughout the revisions, I enhanced the use of strategic variables to guide the thinking of the audience in reading and enable a concise approach to thinking through the problem in the text make decision and understand the general attempt in the text. I qualify this position by alluding to the question that in the contemporary writing environment, the challenge of readership is to allow the framework that develops the ability of the audience to cope with new situations.
The revised editions constructs understanding that requires metacognitive elements. This makes the texts t potentially guide, regulate and evaluate the thinking and processing of the readers information. The revised editions can effectively allow the readers to review the literature and memories an important element of strategic learning that is important for the metacognitive processing. Gong and Dragga (p.231) argues that the mechanics of communicative writing were imperative in the writings for purposes of creative deconstruction. The overview of the rhetorical concepts evident in the texts manifests a visualization whose editing mapped out the collaborative and cooperating procedures to explore the cannons of style, memory, arrangement and delivery.
