Before the arrival of Prophet Muhammad, the world was going through a state called ‘Jahiliyah’, which is referred to as ignorance in English. There existed a lot of evil during that period including killing of female babies, tribal warfare, greed, racism, abuse of orphans and poor as well as women degradation.
Prophet Muhammad is said to have been sent by Allah to save the mankind from such oppression. Muhammad was born in the 7th century during the time when women in Arabia had few or no rights. Women had no right to life as it could be seen when they were buried alive in case the family had financial hitches. Therefore, Muhammad took part in ending such oppression. He ended infanticide as well as establishing rights for women which were explicit.
Through Muhammad’s legacy, Islam took part in teaching its people that women and men are usually equal before their lord and thus women be granted right to inheritance, marriage and social rights, property and also rights to evade proposal terms, as well as divorce. However, some communities in the Muslim world also practice such acts, which are against the law.
Muhammad also used that opportunity to counsel Muslim men on how to treat their daughters and wives. He did this through preaching that men have rights over their women as well as women have right over their men, thus both genders are equal. He also encouraged families with daughters through giving them a clear example of him, that on the Day of Judgment, their daughters could make them enter paradise.
In fighting for the rights of Islam people, Muhammad explained to the people the reasons as to why they should stop fighting each other. Muhammad explained to the people the meaning of Jihad where he related to the reading from Qur’an. He explained to the people that Jihad does not mean shedding other person’s blood. He explained that it meant striving for improvement in politics, spiritually, morality, and intellect. This changed majority of Islamic conflicts although some of them were still stuck in the old Jihad. Muhammad also fought for better treatment of war prisoners and civilians. He enlightened people or civilians not to kill innocent people and also learn to respect corpse of the enemies. This was contrary to the custom of the time that involved mutilating the bodies.
Therefore, Muhammad remains as one of the respected people with his legacy still in practice in today’s Islam life. The fight against women, oppression being one of the major contributions of this, had no place in the prophet’s world. The prophet also taught people about respecting one another when it came to the brutal murder of the civilians. He also had a main contribution in the respect of the enemy’s corpse but not to mutilate the bodies.
Similarly, Ruther brothers also had certain contributions in the rights of workers and social unionism. However, apart from Muhammad who used religion to solve major issues in Islam, Reuther brothers ot involved politically in fighting for the rights of the people in America. Walter Reuther can be remembered as the president of Auto workers who got involved in the labor movement significantly not due to his success as a union leader but due to significant passion for economic and social justice. He did all this together with his older brother Joy and Victor.
One of the contributions of the Reuther’s was through involving the eye of the nation where they and mostly Walter together with other Union members distributed leaflets at Ford Plant gate. It was a move to fight the oppression of labor forces where they were witnessed by the press, the government official and the clergy. Later it was named The Battle of the Overpass. Later they were rewarded a contract although it threatened his situation.
He also demanded the labor movement with philosophy demand aimed at fighting the welfare of the public. He fought for the wages of the people, job security, vacations, pension benefits and health care. They also led efforts to give supplement benefits of unemployment thus providing economic security over the layoff cycles of the workers.
As an advisor of the president Johnson, Reuther influenced the expansion of the role of the government towards guaranteeing civil liberties as well as building support against war and poverty in America. This implies that Reuther took advantage of the labor movement as a way to fight for the social progress of the people and workers. All this contributions have placed Reuther brother as one of the icons in 20th century.
In conclusion, both Muhammad and Reuther brothers were involved in fighting for the right of people who have been oppressed. Muhammad fought for the rights of Islamic women and war affected people though he used religious movement to air those grievances. He fought against burying women from poor families alive. He also preached religiously the way reasons as to why people should stop fighting each other r and respect corpse of the enemies. On the other hand, Reuther fought for the rights of the laborers. He fought for the unemployed to benefit from the government as well as other working rights.
