A summary of my current level of responsibility and decision-making ability in the company
A typical business organization normally has various functions and departments. Each department is assigned a unique role that in conjunction with other departments, it contributes to the overall achievement of the entire organizational goals. Additionally, every employee in the organization is assigned a specific role and the target to achieve over a specified period, which at the end of a particular time is evaluated together with what others have done to measure the progress of the entire organization. Having attained a degree in a business field with specialization in Accounting /Finance, I make major contributions towards critical decision making in my company. I have more than seven years of experience in leadership, which has enabled me to be a professional in problem solving. Thus, I utilize these skills to manage the decision-making team and resolve any dispute that may arise in the process of decision-making.
Goal setting is an important role in business management. Since I am familiar with the challenges of setting SMART goals, I assign myself with special responsibility for ensuring that the goals set for the company can be evaluated on the SMART criterion and that any goal set is in line with the project it is meant for. I am proficient in financial analysis and reporting. Therefore, I participate in developing business plans, evaluating investment projects, and aligning the decisions of the company with its financial strategies and capacities to ensure that the decision- making in the company is in line with the company’s financial ability. I also utilize my analytical and communication skills to brief other stakeholders on the major decisions of the company. Due to the diversity of skills that I possess, I contribute significantly to major decision- making at both departmental and organizational level. I advise different departments in the company such as audit and marketing departments on how to set business strategies that are effective in terms of cost and resource use. My career goal in the coming five years is to become a transformational leader who will not only lead a large organization but also train other individuals in the organization and the society to become future leaders. One of the major steps that I see myself taking is to seek admission for an MBA course in an institution that has the reputation of delivering professionals in the running of a business organization. Thus, completing an MBA @ UNC graduate program will equip me with additional skills that I need to achieve my career objectives. Additionally, the training that I will undergo will expose me to various opportunities to acquire the skills I need to overcome my weakness. This will add great value to my current professional status thereby making me to have the confidence it takes to become an exemplary and a transformational leader.
An individual aspiring to achieve some goals in life must have some strength that motivates him or her to be persistent in the pursuit of his or her career goals. Going by this argument, I have my basic sources of strengths that set the backgrounds to my career goals. From the beginning, I am always committed to making the best outcomes in any situation. My strong ability to communicate effectively enables me to maintain strong relationships with the people around me, which facilitate my interactions with others. Additionally, I have the ability to be highly responsive to unpredictable situations and to make fair judgments. My commitments to achievement in any situation have enabled me to appear in the Dean’s list of Honors and to be awarded Honors for academic commitment.
A good leader should have the ability to understand the varying needs of other people in the organization as well as the needs of the market for the products and services offered by the organization. As a potential leader, my ability to understand and respond to the needs of different people and to utilize effective interpersonal skills to promote interpersonal relationships is a great source of strength. However, I need to improve some of my aspects that I perceive to be weaknesses to an individual with leadership ambitions. As much as I have good communication and interpersonal skills, my intercultural interaction skills need to be improved. Additionally, I need to improve my understanding of the essence of having individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds in the decisions making of an organization. My enrollment for MBA will provide me with an excellent opportunity to learn and acquire more skills for interacting with both interracial and intercultural groups that I will be working with as a future leader. I also hope to strengthen my leadership and communication skills, particularly in leadership areas that I perceive to be weak in myself.
How I will differentiate myself with other students
My decision to request admission for postgraduate studies has provided me with an opportunity to conduct self -evaluation and to set the specific objective that I would like to achieve at the end of the course. Besides, I have been able to develop a strong sense of purpose that enables me to decide exactly what I want to achieve. The years I have spent since I completed my undergraduate studies have adequately prepared me to have particular interests in becoming a great organizational leader. As such, I will have a unique character that will enable me to be identified as an individual who is determined to achieve some specific goals. My professional experience in leadership will be manifested in my unique ways of interacting with other students and my ambition to improve in various areas of leadership. My experience in leadership and other areas of business management will be a great source of inspiration to other students in my field. My desire to become an exemplary organizational leader will be portrayed in my urge to learn new things and the way I will pay particular attention to important details.
What I would like to tell UNC Kenan-Flagler that would help them to evaluate my application
My application for MBA studies has been motivated by my inner urge to add value to what I have attained from my undergraduate studies and personal experiences. I am making this sincere application because I have the passion for learning new ideas that can increase my competence and capacity to reach by career goal. I have evaluated my needs and understanding, and I feel inadequate to become what I would like to be. I am highly committed to achieving the best in any situation, and this can be confirmed from the award certificates that accompanied my applications. The long time I have spent outside a learning institution is sufficient evidence that shows my urge to learn. Over the years that I have worked working, I have been able to identify my strengths and weaknesses and the need to improve in various areas, which guided me in choosing this institution and the area that I would like to specialize in. Also, I have background knowledge in finance and accounting which are some of the areas covered by MBA students. Therefore, I would kindly request the concerned institution to evaluate my application and consider its sincerity and my eligibility to undertake MBA course.
