I have demonstrated my role as an educator in numerous ways. Specifically, I have served as a mentor to novice nurses, as well as other personnel that work around me. I have served as a role model, helped to acclimatize new nurses to new facilities, and advised new nurses about varied procedures, policies, and practices (Dreher and Smith, 2010). Furthermore, I also act as a resource provider for practicing nurses and students by sharing instructional resources. Some of the resources may include readings, websites, and instructional resources that students can use to improve tire knowledge (Dreher and Smith, 2010). I also share other professional resources such as articles, books, and assessment tools. In most instances, my role as an educator goes beyond the classroom. I strive to build leadership skills in other nurses and students. It is my belief that the health facilities that I work for can become better through unconditional support and positive attitude (Dreher and Smith, 2010). Therefore, as an educator, I demonstrate passion and commitment in all that I do. I illustrate and underline just how much it means for an individual to follow their dreams, to live life to the fullest, to visualise a better future, and relish day-to-day adventures (Hunt, 2012).
In intend to integrate this role into my current and future career by teaching aspiring nurses about some of the strategies that they can employ to better service delivery to all stakeholders in their respective facilities. Moreover, I will help students as well as practicing nurses to identify their learning strengths, needs, and limitations (Hunt, 2012). Such information will help them to select learning opportunities that will overcome their limitations and augment their skills and competencies. Furthermore, I will engage in frequent peer reviews to help my colleagues and other scholars to decipher their topic areas and make presentations at nursing and medical conferences. Finally, I will play a crucial role in implementing the most current research findings and standards of care into the clinical practice (Hunt, 2012).
