- (B) An argument is the claim or the thesis statement with evidence that support the main idea. The main problem is that I used to fail in clearly outlining the thesis statement. Arguments in essay writing need to be more than obvious statements. To solve this, had to learn the concept of argumentation which is an important step in the process of writing effective arguments. I made sure I always had an evidence to back up my points to make their argument. A good argument should have a tight and specific focus. I made sure I went a step beyond the teacher’s assignment.
- (D)I also fail to make my essays interesting and convincing because of failing to structure my essays rightly. This problem was due to hurry, incompetence or lack of know how about the structure of an essay. To solve this problem, I researched on how to write properly structure essays in order to present my ideas in the order that makes most sense. Essays have three parts; introduction, body and conclusion.
- (E) When it comes to referencing, I always used a quote but failed to refer from whom the quote came from. To solve this issue, i ensured that i always did my research to know who said what, when and why to avoid chances of getting it wrong. It is very important to record ones notes and also note the page where the quotation is located when a passage is a direct quotation. I also realized that I should also avoid citing huge information from the same sources.
- (F) During essay writing, one should observe important aspects of the sentence. I sometimes lost the rhythm of a sentence and made the content seem all wrong. To help solve this, I always read my sentence out loud to check the rhythm of the sentence. I always checked if all the words in the sentence serve a purpose. I always made sure I checked whether the sentence should be in passive voice or active. I also always check whether I have made any common mistakes. A good clear sentence is one that is organized well, has no wasted words, has appropriate, strong word choice and has a rhythm suited to the content.
