Act of Resistance: The act of resistance is when an individual or group of individuals opposes or confronts a particular thing. These people have the courage and stand up to say “no”. The picture here is the perfect example of an act of resistance. The people of the village are together and are gearing up to say no. men and women together have united to say no to “Bonded Labor”.
In the background, we can see two women working in the fields and next to them is the group of villagers who stand up against the act of bonded labor. Right in front is the lady with the chain in her hand, this clearly depicts that the woman is saying that its time that they wake up and do away with the chains of bonded labor.
The broken chain in the centre with flowers in between justify the above stand, the people have had enough and now the time has come to break the chains and set free. The lady on the opposite side has a white ball in her hand to depict hope, a platform of equality and to set free from the clutches of slavery. Man is born free and has the right to live a free life, free of any inequalities and free from any supremacy by the other man.
Power Relationships: A power relationship is where a person tries to influence the behavior of the others in a relationship, due to his power. Due to the dominance of this individual or group the relationship can be positive or negative. The negative relationship can be abusive which includes violence like physical, financial, sexual, verbal or emotional. A perfect example of a negative power relationship would be an act of terrorism like hijacking, abducting or kidnapping.
The picture too is an example of a power relationship, positive power relationship, where the group decides to be united against a cause. The woman takes the leadership and decides to break the bond that is shown by the broken chain.
