In order to accomplish goals, each group member has to cooperate and make contributions. Additionally, each member of the team needs to understand their own strengths and weaknesses so the group can function and perform well without significant internal problems. Team formation is a really important part of senior experience. But, the process of team formation was more difficult for me than I thought it would be. First, I didn’t have the chance to form a group as early as would be ideal. I had no idea what senior experience entailed. So, it took me a long time to ask other students to form a group and by that time many other students were already part of a group. Fortunately, I contacted several potential members and we decided to make a group, but we were not been able to meet in person for various reasons. One of the group members just left without any notice and another member had an accident so he had to leave the group. Afterwards, I contacted other members individually and formed a new group. I am not sure how our group will deal with projects in senior experience but I definitely will continue to put forth my best effort.
My goal is to complete senior experience and perform well with my group, as I will be graduating in May 2014. This class will give me the opportunity to network with people and companies so that I can better reach my next education goals or obtain job opportunities. Also, senior experience allows me to use the knowledge and skills that I have learned from classes and real life. There are great projects this semester that I definitely want to work on with my group. I also want to work on some of my weaknesses during senior experience. This class requires not only expert knowledge but also professional skills. Senior experience requires a lot of communication and public speaking and one of my weaknesses is public speaking. So, I will certainly work on this weakness and hope to improve my public speaking skills throughout the course. Because of the great projects available, challenges of working with my group, and the opportunities to network and improve upon my weaknesses, I am very excited to take this course.
