I think that homosexual marriage should be allowed. The fact is that for many heterosexual couples civil marriage is a personal choice. But gay couples have no such choice. In this case, up to a point, most cohabiting couples do not think about those legal problems and difficulties that are associated with the presence / absence of a stamp in the passport.
When people talk about the abnormality of same-sex marriage, forgetting that the rule here is largely determined by culture rather than innate human nature. Throughout the history of our species and in different societies, the family institution has repeatedly taken the traits that seem to us appalling and immoral. Psychologist Gregory Hereke from the University of California, analyzing examples dozen pairs - homo- and heterosexual, came to the conclusion that the basic psychological characteristics are quite similar: both there and here partners have for each other is the same set of emotions. The orientation of the partners does not affect their ability to create a harmonious emotional space (Herek, G., 2006).
Known researcher of phenomenon of homosexuality John Gottman goes even further arguing that partners in same-sex couples relate to each other is much warmer than usual (Gottman, J., 2003).
A study conducted by American psychologists in the 2001 showed that 53% of girls whose mothers - an open lesbian, would like to get in the future "intelligent" profession - doctor, lawyer, engineer, while among the daughters of heterosexual mothers have chosen this profession only 21 %, other preferred classes like saleswomen or waitresses in the bar. But we should note three things that can slightly reduce the degree of expectations related to the results of this study. First of all, it was conducted on a small sample - 30 children from heterosexual families and as much of a lesbian. Second - it still was not a homosexual families, but mostly about lesbians, who divorced their husbands to live with the woman: that is a factor of influence here was invaluable father. Finally, the third - those same-sex marriages are mostly in educated environment, where intellectual work is not something out of the ordinary (Stacey, J., 2003).
