I clearly recall that fateful day, it was on a Saturday evening, my elder brother, my mother, my father and I and had gone out for dinner. When we arrived, the gate was open with no guard in sight. It seemed strange for the guard hardly leaves the gate open. We drove into the compound and locked the gate. My brother went ahead to open the door. Immediately we noticed something unusual the door was also open. However, we entered the house swiftly; little did we know we have fallen prey to a home invasion. Three masked robbers armed with guns were standing before us. Their guns pointed at us, and they demanded that we lay on the ground facing the floor. My eldest brother tried to resist, he was struck on the shoulder with a gun and kicked hard in the face. I was panicking because I thought they were going to kill him. I lifted my head to look at my brother who was screaming, and I was also hit hard on my ear which then started bleeding profusely. My mother pleaded with them to leave me alone. My father was tied to a chair, and a gun pointed at him. They ransacked the house and fled the scene with our car, our phones, laptops, money, home theater and television. We called for help, and we were taken to the hospital. We later reported the case to the police and found the guard locked in a store in the basement. It was the longest hour in my life.
My aunt was running an errand, and she did not have a nanny. Therefore, she asked me to watch her baby. It was not the first time I was doing this, so I accepted. We played with toys, and he fell asleep when he woke up, I noticed Alex seemed a bit off he was fussy and warm. However, I brushed it off since he had just woken up. After a while, he seemed normal he was running around. I took that opportunity to finish a class project. Time passed, and it was dinnertime since I was home alone, I took Alex, and we headed to the kitchen. Immediately, I realized that he had a fever, but it was not alarmingly high so ignore it. I prepared dinner; however, I noticed he was not well, we sat to eat and immediately he started having a seizure. I screamed, reached for the phone and called my aunt; I was too confused to call the 911. Alex was still seizing, and I thought I could lose him, he had started turning blue, and his breathing was decreasing. I carried him in my arms and started running out of the house. Immediately, I had an ambulance, a paramedic jumped out took the baby and began breathing into his blue lips and immediately, Alex started crying. I was so scared that I started crying, we took Alex to the hospital, and her mother had already arrived. It was a terrifying experience for me.
My mother sent me for shopping on a Sunday afternoon. After around thirty minutes, I was through with shopping and paid for it. As I prepared to leave and ushered myself towards the travelator, something unusual happened the burly security guard pounced and ordered me away from the exit. He instructed me to follow him. I had not aware of what was happening, but I just did as I was told. I was ushered into the store manager’s office. I started panicking when they started whispering. There were two guards and the manager in the room, I decided to ask what was going on.
My heart was racing the security manager told me that they had seen me on CCTV putting a watch in my pocket. I was stunned because I did not do it. One guard pushed me to the wall, pressed me against it, and accused me of being a shoplifter. They emptied my pockets and threatened to call the police and arrest me. I was terrified, and I did not say anything. No watch was found on me, and they were rather disappointed. They had mishandled me, and I was too scared to talk, after a while the security man apologized and said the whole situation was a mistake. I uttered no word, and I left the store hurriedly.
