The proposed business will be manufacturing organic dog treats, and it will require physical facilities within the city. It will need a manufacturing workshops and equipment for processing, testing and packing the product. There will also be a need for a climate controlled storage space for the ingredients and final product.
The packaging material and labeling will come from outside suppliers. Correspondingly, suppliers will also offer raw organic ingredients that make up the product. The business will process the ingredients according to approved specifications then package them and label. The product will be available in easy to handle bags similar to the packaging of other types of solid dog food.
Control systems for inventory, purchasing and production
The business will focus on a just-in-time inventory management strategy; it will concentrate on existing and projected customer demands to schedule production and deliveries to clients and retail outlet. Online direct customers will have a minimum wait period for production of their orders. The labor force will be sequential in production. While managers and supervisors work as full-time employees, the hiring of casual employees will happen when there is high production. Loading and unloading will also rely on temporary arrangements will casual workers. However, the business will have annual supply agreements with suppliers and distributors as well as shipment companies to allow for scheduled payment of the costs without negatively influencing the firm’s cash flow.
Discussion of management team

Supervisors will need technical qualifications in people management, project management, and operations management. They may have a diploma in business administration. They will also need to have at least six months of experience working in a busy manufacturing production setting. The skills of the supervisors are necessary to transfer management decisions and control throughout the organization. Each manager will have a supervisor. Therefore, the business will have five staff members. They will be responsible for the management of part-time employees who will work on the production and marketing process. The company will also rely on project-based outsourcing solutions for manufacturing and operations.
Compensation for key organization members
The business will offer attractive base salaries to the managers and the supervisors. It will also offer performance-based allowances depending on the volume of product sold annually. Moreover, the managers will have a privilege of using some of the firm’s resources including transportation for approved personal purposes. The compensation for the key staff will align with the industry recommendation and the range that close competitors are offering in the city. However, it will be lower than the compensation offered to manage staff in the multinational companies. Other than the monetary compensation, managers and supervisor will get fewer working hours because of the nature of operations.
The management training the leaders may have had and additional necessary training
Managers joining the business from other firms may have undergone different kinds of in-house training. The notable ones would be the use of technology to enhance communication and management of projects and teams. They may also have professional certifications in different disciplines such as accounting, leadership, or procurement. While working at the natural organic dog treat business, they will need further training in systems management, production scheduling and enterprise resource management. These skills will be valuable because they improve the business’ strategy of operating in a lean format while enhancing the value chain.
