Modern parents increasingly face with such a question as "Is it right to take Spanking a Child as a form of discipline?” Parents from all over the world were divided into two groups: ones believe that spanking is a permissible way of parenting (especially for boys) as a drastic measure, while others consider spanking immoral and even criminal way of parenting.
According to the University of Chicago‘s General Social Survey the pro-spanking bloc has slipped from about 84 percent in 1986 to about 70 percent in 2010 and 2012 (Enten, 2014). That’s still a majority, but spanking has become less socially acceptable over the past three decades. The recent researches show that children from poor and uneducated families are punished physically more often than children from educated and successful families.
So, what does make the parents reach the extreme measures of discipline? Take for example the situation in life: the child persistently asks to buy a certain toy instead of another one in the shop. The mother tries to explain that the wanted toy is very expensive, but the child is still holding his own and crying for toy among the crowd. In this moment the atmosphere between mother and child is heating up, the mother is going to higher tone because it is difficult to control yourself. In this condition the mother can shout at her child or spank him. Most psychologists state that it is not allowed spanking children, as it will cause a lot of psychological problems and complexes in the future. Non-confidence, problems at school / with employment, aggression will expect of your child. Thus, being kind and friendly will be better to children.
In conclusion, it should be noted that parents decide themselves what methods of parenting to use. The main thing is that the relationship between parents and children should be associated with love, attention and understanding. Domestic violence generates violence in the soul, therefore only parents are responsible for a further fate of their child.
