The charge of the light brigade refers to the battle between the British and the Russian forces that took place in the 1845 led by Lord Cardigan. This war between the Russian and the British is known as the Crimean war. This was as a result of miscommunication where the brigade was sent to a frontal assault against the Russians who were well prepared for battle. The British wanted to go against the Russians who were firing direct fire that resulted to a high number of casualties. Despite the number of causalities, the British light Brigade suffered they managed to scatter some of the Russian gunners who were firing directly at them.
The light Cavalry force was made up of horses that were not armored and that were fast enough since they would be efficient in making a fast approach towards the desired destinations. There were only two British brigades during the charge of the war that took place during the battle between the British and the Russian forces. The battle was a result of miscommunication that occurred. The British forces were under the wrong impression when they could not see the Russian forces trying to withdraw their gunners and other weapons as they tried to retreat. However, the British commanders could not see, and they decided to call their troopers to arm themselves for attack on the Russian forces. The Russian forces were commanded by Liparandi, who was in command of over 20 battalions. The Russian forces were deployed at strategic points at the valley where they could easily see and attack the incoming British forces who had not prepared themselves for battle (Powyszynski, Robert, and Alfred 32). The loss of the battle by the British was due to the miscommunication that had left them venerable to the attacks by the Russian forces. The British forces went down for a battle with the Russians led by Cardigan, who was in the front line of the battle attack.
Cardigan was killed in the battle as he tried to withdraw the forces when he realized their target was wrong. When the commander realized the mistake that he had done, he tried to withdraw the brigade from going on with the assaults. However, despite his efforts to try and withdraw the forces from the battlefield after realizing his mistakes he was killed. The other brigade soldiers went ahead and continued firing at the Russian soldiers who were directing heavy fire at them. Despite the heavy fire that they were receiving from the Russian forces they prevailed with their attacks and went ahead trying to engage the Russians on a fair battle which seemed impossible at the moment. They tried to engage the Russians in an open fire in order to false them to withdraw their forces. Despite the efforts that they made in trying to fight on a fair fight, they were soon overwhelmed and forced to retire and take cover. It is put they incurred a lot of casualties due to the heavy fire they received from the Russian forces. The Russian soldiers who survived the attack were made their way back to their weapons where they managed to go and take their weapons and continue with their assault against the British soldiers.
The Russian commander was motivated by the enmity for his brother the British commander which made him fail to provide any support despite the heavy fire they received. The two commanders were bother-in-laws who had faced enmity for over 30 years. Despite the death bath that followed there were a few soldiers who managed to survive the terrible occurrence that was due to a misconception. There were a lot of injuries that were suffered as a result of the heavy fire that the British brigade suffered. The British forces also suffered the loss of horses that they used in battle that were not armored of failed. The British managed to get a good reputation due to the devotion they had in following the orders they received from their commanders (Powyszynski, Robert, and Alfred 37). It is due to the poor communication that was exhibited by the commanders that led to the bloodshed that was experienced during these battles. It clear that the commanders failed in maintaining good communication that would have been relevant in ensuring that there was no battle. It is due to the miscommunication that there was a result of battle that could have been avoided.
The British soldiers are praised up to date due to the devotion they showed by following orders despite the risks that are involved. They were also loyal to their commander; this is because, following the death of their commander in the battlefield, they went ahead and continued with the assault. The soldiers are heroes since they exhibited loyalty. Loyalty is an essential characteristic that needs to be exhibited by all soldiers. Soldiers are expected to be loyal to their commanders and their country and execute any orders that are aimed at serving the interests of their country. However, in this situation miscommunication was a negative factor that led to the death of soldiers who were loyal and devoted to their country.
