It has been a quandary to teenagers like me that adults of contemporary generation seem to be unable to grasp what being a teenager is like. Obviously, adults who are in the age ranges of 25 and above were previously teenagers not so very long ago: in only less than a decade. But of course, with the fast pace of technological advancement in today’s world, it could be evident that the fads, fashion, gadgets, peer pressures, and entertainment opportunities could have been significantly different.
Teenagers today like telecommunication gadgets at their best. We anticipate the coming of the next smartphone, super phone, or the wearable gadgets that monitor my calories burned or how my abs would be sculpted to perfection in the next endurance training. We love to listen to diverse music ranging from songs of One Direction, Bruno Mars, Pink and Maroon 5. Some of us still go nuts looking at our reflection in the mirror to ensure that not one blemish or pimple would suddenly pop out unannounced. And yes, most of us said good bye to Facebook and started trying the fad of the times: messaging applications like Kakao Talk, WeChat, and WhatsApp to be more private and share messages only to close friends and peers. Teenagers like adventure, games, social life, food binges, and much a lot of booze and experimenting on just about anything that could be explored. The bottom line is this: teenagers like things, gadgets, applications, new experiences, familiar and trusted friends, as well as fun and entertainment from diverse media. I guess these are similar likes you had when you were teenagers. The only difference is that contemporary world has so much technological applications and gadgets being offered and such an unprecedented pace. We just want to capture these opportunities and turn them into remarkable experiences so we, in turn, could anticipate what crazy new fads would make our future children go gaga over them.
