Most people would have different answers about why getting an education is so important, the reason why I would get an education is because there are so many benefits to doing so, and you experience things that you would not be able to otherwise. For example, be taught to stand up for yourself, and being able to put what you are being taught to the test so you can look back on that lesson, and use it should the time arrive. Getting an education also open doors to the future that would otherwise be closed to you. Another example, when a person works toward getting a good education, they are allowed power beyond their wildest dreams like going to a college out of state or town; being recognized for accomplishing so much.
My reasons for getting an education is pretty much simple like wanting to go far in life, be given opportunities that my own parents never had, being able to teach my child the things that I learned and applied, to be a positive role model in a society where being educated is frowned upon. Another extent to which getting an education is a good endeavor is that there are things in school that you will get to experience that you cannot experience on the streets. For example, pep rallies. Thousands of students every year run over each other to get a good seat in the gym or auditorium for the pep rally which gets all students out of class for the last part of the day, which always happens to be on a Friday. It is like the junior high narrator said and quoted a pep assembly was my only good memory in junior high. (Partenheimer). Some pursue an education because of that light at the end of the tunnel i.e. pep rally. I would say I am following the crowd to the extent that I ultimately want what they want, a break in the educational action, to be recognized for staying in school and doing what I’m told to do. Working to become a success, and the power it will bring having an education. It is not exactly following the crowd if there is something that people responsibly expect of you like getting an education. People can love going to school to pursue an education for the sole purpose of just skating by, and looking forward to that “light” so they do not have to work so hard to get to the pep rally.
Conscientiously, people look forward to getting an education because of the other perks as well like the end of the year parties that they have for all of the classes of student. Everybody wants to learn how to be great and how to be better than what they grew up around, and how to make something as good as a chocolate yellow cake. Following the crowd is not always an advised thing to do, but when there are positive benefits to be reaped for doing so especially from an educational aspect then following the crowd is not a crime. Another example of this is if you wanted to take a cooking class to learn how to cook common things like spaghetti or meatloaf or even barbecue meatloaf. Let’s face it, people are going to need to learn how to cook for themselves in order to be able to successfully survive on their own; many do not know it but cooking is a survival skill. Pursing an education will equip you for the real world when you are out on your own.
