India, Japan and China
The world today is a global village and thanks to globalization, people from all cultures and parts of the world can easily understand each other. Today, it is not surprising to find a course offered in a university or college about different cultures found in different countries. For instance, universities in the United States offer courses about other countries. In my view, it is important to study countries such as China, Japan and India in a humanities course taught in the west because they get to understand these countries better.
It is important to study these cultures so as to understand them and how they do the things they do. It is understandable that these three countries are developing at a very high rate. China for instance, is always surpassing most Western countries in economy. It is good to stud it culture so as to understand how they have managed to do that, so that the western countries can benchmark with it in order to remain competitive and relevant. If not so, these countries will be the world super powers in the near future.
It is also good for universities in the west to offer courses that help students know what is going on outside of their country. When learners are empowered with knowledge about other cultures, they will be at a position of interacting freely with people from cultures that are different from their own. The world has always experienced cultural stereotyping and learning about different cultures will help demystify some of these stereotypes. When that happens, then those students who have learned more about these cultures can easily relate with them without placing tags on them and branding them too.
