The scenario at the Anytown High School has proven that a lot should be done in order to deal with the issues of bullying in the school fraternity. It has proven that the students that get bullied by their fellow students undergoes great deal of stress and can do anything to avoid being bullied. The deputy principle did a great job when he managed to stop one of the students from actually shooting his fellow. The school board then decided to come up with policies to curb this behavior and avoid problems that could have arisen from this.
The policy is in accordance with the Chancellor’s Regulation A-832, dated October 12, 2011 (Policy Document 2016). The act was put in place to regulate and monitor the interaction of all the student relation. The act governs how the students should interact with each other. The policies are able to curb bullying at early stages and this is able to prevent occurrence of the scenario that arouse. This is in accordance with the Schneier Model. The asset that the policy is protecting is the student and they are protected from danger that they can cause themselves (O’Brien 2016)
The policy is as follows
All students are equal; regardless of their background, relation with any member of staff, whether they are officials or different classes. No student should feel superior or inferior as they interact. All students should treat each other equally and no staff should discriminate when a conflict has arisen and is brought to them
Bullying is not allowed; any students found bullying another student within the school vicinity or in any school property. The school can also intervene if the student is being bullied outside school and they are being affected negatively.
No student male or female should be harassed by their fellow students. Harassment is highly prohibited and any student found harassing another is liable for two weeks suspension.
Any student reported and found guilty of bullying is liable for suspension for two weeks. If the same student is found bullying again within the school premises or outside school then their penalty is expulsion from the school. Only the board has the right to expel while suspension can be administered by the assistant principal or the principal.
Any student that has been bullied, staff or fellow students that have witnessed the case should report to the assistant principal within two days of occurrence and they should write a statement regarding the same. The assistant principal is then requested to look into the matter and give the punishment accordingly. If the case is above the assistant principal, he/she should report the matter to the principal who in turn convenes board meeting to deal with the issue. In circumstances where the board cannot convene immediately the student is suspended indefinitely until the board can rule on his case. The procedure to bringing the culprit to book is in accordance with homeland security act Sec. 856 (Homeland 2002).
