Thesis: While my outward appearance and conversational nature is like my dad, I am more like my mom in terms of my personality and characteristic traits.
One can never deny the fact that both the parents have a huge role to play in the upbringing of a child. The parents give a lot of time in nurturing their child, and thus go on to have an influence on the young mind. Thus, it is obvious that a child would take after his or her parents in the course of life. In my case too, the involvement of my parents in my development as a child has been of enormous importance. As such, I believe I have imbibed quite a lot of characteristic traits from my mom and dad over the years. In introspection, the matter of resemblance becomes all the more clear to me as I can identify the specific characteristics that I have inculcated from my mom and dad.
Being a boy, I believe I have constructed my sense of gender based on the image of my dad. In retrospect I can understand how one gets influenced in the tender years of life by the parents during the process of construction of gender identity. I have been told a lot of times by our relatives and neighbors that I totally talk like my dad. Previously, I could not understand the similarity. But, as I grew up I could find the subtleties. I would take pauses in between sentences just like my dad.
In any argument I would try to find a logical explanation just like he does. When angry I would rather keep the words as minimum just like him. I believe I have imbibed all of these characteristics over the years of growing up. Apart from the way of talking, I look like my dad too. This is very endearing and I feel proud of it. He has this sober look that adds to his aura. I believe I would become more like him in personality and appearance with time and age. Thus, I look and speak like my dad.
However, do have a whole lot of similarities with my mom too. I am very close to my mother, and I find her to be the most endearing person in the entire world. I have always been impressed by her skills of doing business. This is something that, I believe, she has passed on to me as I am very much business-minded as a person. I have come to understand that I have a knack for business. It is a good thing that it comes to me naturally, and I do not need to learn anything from her consciously.
She is very organized in nature, and she plans everything meticulously so that everything is perfect. This is something that I do too quite actively. I try to plan things out beforehand weighing all the pros and cons so that the executed work can be perfect. Planning is involved in the most trivial of things and also the most significant ones. This is just a trait in my mom and me that makes us very similar to each other. She is a very calm lady, and I am also very peace-loving and calm in nature. I believe that her composure and calmness has influenced me to be so as I have grown up.
Thus, there can be no doubt that I have really taken after my parents. In my opinion, while I resemble my dad in terms of looks and way of speaking, most of my personality traits are influenced by my mom. Hence, I would like to conclude by opining that my outward appearance and societal portraiture makes me resemble my dad, while the true self that I am is more like my mom. I love both of them, and believe that I have imbibed the best out of both of my parents in all these years of my life.
