The Beatles is a band which is famous all over the world. Their songs have been favorite songs for many generations now. It seems that their songs never get old. People love them and understand them. However, “Blackbird” can be seen as one of the most interesting songs and songs that have a very deep meaning to it.
The name of the song itself speaks quite loud and direct about the meaning in it. According to the source: “McCartney explained that "bird" is British slang for girl, making "blackbird" a synonym for 'black girl'” (Reddit Web). The name of the song sets a theme for the whole understanding of it. Bird in minds of many people is connected to the theme of freedom. People see birds as free creatures who just live in the environment and fly freely in the sky. Therefore, people understand what meaning the author of the song puts in the symbol of the bird, especially by using epithet “black” with it. It automatically hints a listener of thinking about black people. Considering the strong position of the band in terms of politics, it is quite understandable.

We can see that Paul McCartney is trying to make black people more confident and reassure them that they were doing a right thing at that time by protesting against racism and fighting for their right.
This song focuses on the reassurance of black people that they should fight for their rights and that they should not be oppressed by the others. Even though, there is not many lyrics in the song it is easy to understand what the main idea of the song is. People should care about each other no matter what the origins of the others are. The author is trying to persuade the audience that black people should act and do things in order to get there freedom.
