Summary
Chapter one is the most read chapter of the Quran.it carries and explains the importance of Muslim prayers and why it is repeated ten times in a day. Chapter 1 demonstrates how someone can come to consciously know God. Verse 1-4 deals mainly give the feeling of praise and gratefulness to God. Verse 5-6 is about the prayer of Muttaqi, it request God to guide us through the straight path giving His favor and blessing. Allah should guide through the path which isn’t involving negativity or even misguided people. This short chapter includes repletion of some key words in the Quran such as Obadiah, rabb. It also contains some major themes like being grateful, dependence on high power, seeking guidance and aid and other themes.
Ilham – the literal meaning is that is something that is placed in the heart by Allah and is related to things which are unseen. It is a gift from Allah
Wahy- this word has been used 77 times in the Quran. It means the information sent from Allah to his prophet. It also means to inspire.
Rasul- this is an Arabic term which means messenger. It is a kind of a prophet. Like in Quran Musa was a messenger of Allah.
Kitab—this is an Arabic meaning book. It is a sacred book which contains sacred scriptures. People read kitab to get a message from Allah and for spiritual nourishment.
Surah- this is an Arabic term meaning chapter. In the Quran there are 114 chapters. The chapters are then divided into verses. This has enabled easy reference and reading of the Quran.
Ayah- it means miracle. Muslims belief regards the holy book, the Quran as a miracle. They also believe that each ayah is a sign from god.
