Socialization Analysis
Every individual belongs to a specific group or race and considers himself/herself to be a member of that group. Some groups enjoy superiority while some face subordination for the one or the other reason. The White race is among few major sections that have been at the helm of affairs since a long time. It is because of some notable reasons, i.e., the population of the group, the education level of the community and the media. Irrespective of the reasons of supremacy, it is clear that socialization based on race and class does more harm to the society than doing any benefit. The paper thus concludes that socialization must never be based on these personal characteristics.
The population of a particular race is a significant factor that makes a particular group dominant or subordinate to the others. Being larger in terms of population imparts power and the authority while small size is enough to pigeonhole it. It is also likely that a larger group will cast more authority over other groups while making the later feel subdued. Also, if a member of the dominant group is influential because of the designation or the job role, the whole group gets benefitted and fetch better chances of further improvement in terms of education and profession.
The bigger size than others also passes on the power of 'controlling'. It is same as saying that a group of nine or ten siblings playing in the street has better chances to control other kids. Additionally, siblings tend to get united over any fight thereby keeping others at bay. Their colleagues, gradually, start feeling siblings' dominance particularly because of their unity and significant numbers. In all aspects including politics, society, and business, the large size is reflective of the high influence on others. I think that being outsized gives the advantage to control the other groups and allows the community to exercise superior power. It has always been the case with America. The nation, because of its large community and technological advancements, has enjoyed the veto in many of the international organizations.
The second reason for the dominance of the White race is the media. The media played a notable role in making the group domineering by showing the benefits of being a White person and reflecting on their goodness. Also, they try to pacify the internal issues of the Whites while concealing them from the public. At the same time, the media tried to bring forth the issues of other communities and emphasized on their generalization.
I believe that media has the capacity to shape the thinking of individuals. It can change the notion, beliefs, or opinions hold by the population at large. For instance, I remember watching an experimental video about how the police reacted with a White and a Black person who tried to open a car door with a knife. Showing the discriminatory attitude, the police questioned and ultimately arrested the Black while sided with the White for the same cause. This example is just a tip of the iceberg; there are many similar instances that affect the perception of individuals and even the authorities.
Last but not the least, education has always been an advantage for the White group as the community is highly skilled and educated. I think the White group has always focused on education; they encourage their children to hone their skills and pursue higher education to achieve success in all walks of the life. Germany, for instance, has fascinated the world with their technical and engineering skills. Most of the Whites are well-educated; they are well-positioned in their jobs that relate them together and enables the community to garner multiple advantages. There are good chances of the selection of White person for the job in case the manager is the White. The community shares good connections and prefers each other because of the same education level.
Nevertheless, I am unfazed by the superiority and the dominance of the Whites across the world. It is imperative to judge a person by his/her activities, behavior, and overall personality, not just by the belongingness to a particular race or color. Also, I believe that the dominance of a particular group will not stay for a long time because there are so many refugees and immigrants. The large influx of people of other' race' changes the entire equation by bringing the influence to an end.
Finally, I hope that humanity will rise from the discrimination of caste, creed and race in the future. Socialization based on these dividing tendencies pep up intolerance and enhances racism in the society. More often than not, I socialize people by my feelings towards them, not by their color or race or nationality. I think there are many good ways to socialize people without doing causing any harm to their feelings. Finally, I hope we all live in peace, be respectful towards each other, and accept each other to the core of the heart.
