As technology rises rapidly over the decades, everything gets easier to access and more capable. During the last centuries, there was weak influence in technology so, there was a difficult way to get easier life to stay comfortably. In the past, it was difficult to rescue people even if they are in emergency situation because of the lack of technology due to communication and transportation.
But nowadays, engineering and technology solved mostly of it. It changed lives rapidly and massively in positive ways. Advanced technology helps better communication, transportation, and etcetera which helps save time. In urban cities, houses, apartments, infra-structures, and everything becomes modernized compared to the past. Technology plays an important role in engineering because, without advanced technology, engineering would be really difficult and it is almost impossible to get things done perfectly and thoroughly. Technology and engineering proved impossible things turned possible like the invention of airplanes, space-rockets, smart-phones, drones, and sky high towers which people in the past never thought those would happen for real. By the help of technology and improved engineering works, people gained more knowledge about weather and climate, underwater discoveries, and things that people could not do by bare hands, but only machines that engineers created could be done. Recently, the world’s first electrical powered cantilever crane was invented (Brown,2013), smallest lattice structure worldwide (water battery charging H2O with water bridge), (Graz,2016),and in India, the final year civil engineering students’ project funded by government and corporates to construct a household toilet within 72 hours (TNN,2016)which clearly states that governments and environments are supporting the new inventories. Overall, technology is essential for engineering and vice versa.
On the point of a global recession, people tend to wonder how many countries can make it in investing the much-required infrastructure for transport and energy. The legitimate truth is that these countries cannot remain idle, tread softly around the financial instability and debt issues. When they have got so many challenges that needs to be taken into consideration; globalization, climate change and greater demand for services as a result of demographic fluctuations are issues that cannot be ignored at all costs by these countries. By making investments in technology and engineering, these countries offer a long lasting enticement for their economies hence the maintenance of a strong future for sustainable growth is a guarantee (Sharpe 2009).
However it is not a new message, but one of the growing importance is that engineers and technologists are vital to the universal economy and the society. Their skill and knowledge are needed across almost every sector ranging from finance to forestry and many more. Engineers and engineering practice basically has one primary goal of benefiting mankind. The modern society demands require a continuous interaction with the surrounding environment to exact and harvest the needs for sustaining life in addition to developing human empires. On the other hand, it is the engineers’ role to minimize its negative effects and damage to the ecosystem by designing the necessary infrastructures that are proficient and safe. Without the existence of engineering and technology, the concept of infrastructure would have been a concept of alien because there would be no transport system for instance the reads and the vehicles to travel on them. Building a structure more complex than a hut would not be possible as well. Any device, process or even machine making our lives easier that you can think of would be no more along with the civilization that we can be proud of presently (Klein 2011).
A world with no skilled personnel that can fill the roles of engineering and technology is basically a world that is broken down. Doing away with engineering and technology would play a role in degenerating humanity back to the primary innovation; we would have never discovered the current machines or even being able to forge or hunt the seven owners of the world. A world with no engineering and technology would be a world with no humanity as it is the ability of human to design and come up with different innovations that distinguishes us from the rest of the natural world. Therefore, it is our duty to make sure that there are sufficient skilled people to help in meeting the future demand with regard to engineering and technology (Kaur et al., 2011). Technology and engineering has helped in providing a means of estimating what the behavior of certain things will be even before making or observing them. Moreover, technology mostly suggests new kind of behaviors that had never been imagined and so leading to the cropping of other ways of doing things.
Lastly, Advances in engineering and technology shows to the people a more effective ways of doing things and these since these processes normally get results. For instance, the advancement of education gas been greatly achieved through the technological advances of computers. Learning on the global scale can now be possible for students without even leaving the classrooms. Also, through the engineering and technology the processes of agriculture that at one point requires dozens of human workers to complete a simple peace of work can now be automated through the involvement of advanced engineering and technology hence cost efficiency for the farmers (Kaur et al., 2011). Medical inventions occur at a much faster rate, thanks to the computers and machines that helps in the research process hence allowing more intense research educationally into matter to do with medicine.
