It is evident that there are many pros when it comes to hospice and palliative care. This is due to the numerous positive benefits that are associated with the healthcare provisions under these services. It is evident that the timeline that is present in the hospice care is a hindering factor. Patients and other hospital members need to be educated on the importance of palliative and hospice care (Ferrell & Coyle, 2010). This is evident from your argument where you state that most patients shy away since they are afraid of these healthcare measures. Through your argument and other research, it is evident that there are limited cons when it comes to hospice and palliative care.

Hi Tamara
It is evident that there are quite a number of pros and cons that are associated with hospice and palliative care services. The pros are considerably beneficial. This is due to the circumstances that surround persons under these healthcare provisions. It is clear that people under hospice require special treatment since they suffer from terminal illnesses. It is clear through your argument that there is reassurance as part of the pros of these services (Wolfe, Hinds, & Sourkes, 2011). One of the cons of these healthcare provisions as suggested in your text is the effect they have on families and the patients. It is clear that, family members may see the use of services from these departments as acknowledgment of failure in trying to treat and cure their loved ones.

Hi Paula,
Having reviewed your argument, it is clear that the aim of hospice and palliative care are relevant in providing reassurance and comfort to terminally ill patients. This is because; one of the pros of these care programs is their ability to comfort patients both emotionally and psychologically (Kinzbrunner, & Policzer, 2011). This is because; terminally ill patients undergo a lot of physical and emotional distress. There is a need for professionalism by ensuring all health care providers are equipped with the relevant information relevant in providing best practices.

Question 2
Hi Jamie
Home based health care is an important healthcare practice. This is because it is relevant in ensuring patients are under a comfortable environment as indicated in your argument. Health care provision at homes can be made efficient through educating the care givers on how to handle different patients in different environments (Harris, 2010). The need for home based provision is cost effective to long term patients who may require regular medical checkups. However, the quality and the effectiveness of healthcare provision in homes vary across different individuals and health care providers. It is made clear that it is up to the health care providers to determine the kind of patients who are eligible to acquire the home based health care provision.

Hi Kathryn
It is evident as suggested in your argument that home care is efficient and convenient since it helps long-term patients save on the resources spent on seeking treatment in other institutions. Through this health care system, patients are able to acquire efficient and effective care since it is affordable and done in the comfort of their homes (Gorman, & Meyers, 2008). However, home care health provision varies from individuals depending on their health condition.

Hi Susan
The need for home health care provision should be an individual choice as suggested in your argument. This is because different families may not be in a position to provide and afford the kind of responsibilities that may be associated with home care health provision such as transportation to and from the health care institutions for regular checkups (Prieto, 2008). It may also be expensive for some families to maintain round the clock nurses to look after the patients at home.
