As a person who has been raised in a big family and having relatives always visiting my parents, I have developed hospitality at an early age. This value is deeply encrypted into my upbringing and has become and inevitable part of who I am. Even though there have been times where I regretted being over hospital to some people, this value has always gave me more good than bad experience. Key experiences that contributed to the development of my hospitability are family background and my education.
As a teenager, I strongly believed that everyone was supposed to be hospitable, but I was wrong. This is important value that in many cases can open many closed doors. Having been raised in a family that nourishes values such as honesty, hard-working, and helping a stranger in need, I was astonished when I realized that others do not act this way. When I gained more experience, I discovered the impact that my parents left on me including the urge to do the right thing. As I was always surrounded by different people in my house, I have learned to be tolerant and to adapt to new circumstances, new people, and to always accept changes as an inevitable part of my life. This experience thought me to have a smile on my face and to be open-minded. In this ways, I have managed to meet many new interesting people and to easily adapt to any change that may be ahead. I am aware of potential dangers that may be lurking when you let someone in your home, but I also believe that the majority of people are good and have good intentions. If we make a wall around us, then our life will be empty and lonely.
Values such as hospitability and honesty are good for any future profession including my profession. Even though there is a high competition among colleagues and people frequently forget the core values that our society rests on, it is my belief that people who are open-minded and tolerant have a better chance to succeed. This reveals a high level of emotional intelligence and this type of people are more likely to adapt to new changes. Additionally, the value of hospitability gave me one more skill: to be social and to behave according to the situation. Due to the big circle of people who communicate with me on daily basis, I have learned to quickly learn the names of new people and this is also highly valued in any profession. In this way, the others will see that they are important for me enough in order to learn their names.
Having said all of the above, it is highly important for everyone to recognize the values that may benefit them in their professions. On the other hand, values that are likely to lead them to a failure should be recognized and eradicated. Everyone wants to give its best in its profession and our virtues can help us in this attempt. The culture and tradition that we are raised in will influence the development of our personality and it is up to us to extract the best from it, but also to learn about some different culture and take some good values and apply them in our life, professional and private. In this way we will not only be a better professional, but will also become better persons.
