Scholars theologians and philosophers of humanities such as Dante, St. Francis, Michelangelo, Martin Luther and Kierkegaard all lived their lives and made a significant impact then and no doubt seriously impacts the thoughts and behaviours of today. All these men of great stature had strong theological and political beliefs which, was favoured by some and not so welcoming by others.
Dante a great artist interpreted that authority was not of mortal precedence but of a superior being and authority. His verbose thoughts about the Emperor Henrys’ faction saw Dante in a most negative and threatening manner and resulted in him been banned from the city.
Soren Kierkegaard, the Danish theologian and philosopher embodies a vast of amount of challenges which shaped Kierkegaard life and views of the Christian concept and the pursuant of certain teachings on the existence of man. St. Francis was a man who knew the pleasures of mortal wealth and luxury, but experienced life changing moments that denominated his earthly life, his servitude and his love for his spiritual being.
Martin Luther was another great theologian who was the founder of the Protestant Reformation in the Sixteen Century. He questioned the Roman Catholicism doctrines and decided that was not his belief. He experienced a tragic storm that brought a new perspective to an old concept.
The challenges faced and executed by these great men, clearly depicted that during their time they wanted to be different and they achieved it, they needed a voice to echo what is considered an individual right in today’s society. The path they have travelled has created the right atmosphere for many in the world today, meaning it’s a base of reference for the old and the young. Their ethics and moral re-defines the concept of the meaning of life.
The approach in which they unfolded their belief, personally wouldn’t be an issue, because it is such key personas that history was written and a lot of the rewards we individuals are reaping and learning today.
