Loki and the Joker were well known to be actors in comical movies. Their theatrics would then make them rise to fame in the movie world. They excited their audiences with their heroic acts of villainy that produced the best out of them. In the several movies they performed in, they were known to turn out to be villains with different ambitions all through the movies. This paper would, therefore, want to compare and contrast the characters of these two comedians in respect to their actions in the movies. The article would start by looking at the two in terms of their origin, goals and outstanding characteristics. The paper would also compare the preference of Loki and the Joker in the types of weapons they used in acting as well as their remarkable acts of villainy.
According to one of the movies that they were pitted against each other, also called face-off, the Joker’s origin was unknown. Loki was said to have been abandoned by his kin. He was thereafter adopted by a stranger who brought him up to be a feared giant. The movies portrayed Loki as a funny person to be around. His villainy could only be described as heroic and was the undisputed candidate for the most valuable person in the cast. The Joker, on the other hand, was introduced as a character of unknown origin. That introduction alone made him a character many movie lovers would like to watch. In the movie cited here below, the Joker waited until late in the movie to rise to the occasion to show his acts of villainy. In the very end, the Joker turned out to be what could only be described as the bad boy of comedy. He was, in fact the darling of comedy lovers. He finalized the movie portraying him as a character with the most memorable acts of villainy in the history of comical movies. His stunts and actions could not be matched by any comical actors in the history of comical movies.
According to the movie on comic book half-shell heroes, teenage mutant ninja turtles (www.joblo.com/movie-news/fo-face-off-loki-vs-the-joker), Loki aimed to rule the world. He in particular wished to rule New York, Asgard, where his father was the ruler and the whole planet to be precise. The Joker, meanwhile, wished to see the world burn. Nothing could have made him happy than to see the world burn according to the movie cited above.
Loki was depicted as a shrewd and cunning character that would not stop at anything until he had what his wishes. He would try and convince fellow actors that his position on any issue was the best so he could have his way. His ambition was beyond imagination. He always aimed for what seemed to the other characters as impossible. Once he got what he wanted, Loki then would turn out to be an arrogant character. He would start bullying and dictating fellow characters so that he could consolidate his preferences. The Joker, on the other hand, was viewed as a character that had ill intent. He was portrayed as a character that never wished anyone anything good. His ways seemed bent on destruction, no wonder he wished to see the world burn. He was viewed as a character that had lost touch with the reality. His thinking and reasoning were viewed as abnormal.
Loki would wear finely sewn attires and polished shoes. He had a fine style for his hair. He would slick back his hair hat would portray his grin as devilish. The Joker, on the other hand, would wear purple and green suits. His choice of color once again lent credence to the view that he had severe mental disturbance. He would spot unkempt green hair. He did a white makeup on his face and always had a scary smile.
Loki preferred using knives as his weapon in movies. He would often hallucinate that he had a weapon on his hands too. At times, Loki would use an ornamental stick that depicted him as a sovereign leader of the people. The Joker, on the other hand, preferred using explosives. This preference again supported claims that his major aim was to see the world burn. He would also use knives in the roles that he did while acting. True to his character, the Joker liked firearms as a weapon in fighting his adversaries.
In his many acts of villainy, Loki got his adversary and half brother banished from a state he, Loki, wished to rule. He then convinced his brother that their father had died so that the brother could not rival him in the struggle to rule Asgard. He would then send the destroyer to kill his half-brother. In the movie, Loki tried to destroy a rival world completely and indirectly caused the destruction of a secret shield. He would then fool fellow actors to run errands for him while he was capable of doing the bidding alone. Loki would still in acts of villainy kill dozens of civilians on a rival state called Earth and then push through his ornamental stick through the chest of another character in the same movie. Loki would later command an army of strangers and attacked New York City. He later faked his death only to re-appear and remove his father as the ruler of Asgard.
The Joker meanwhile had his acts of villainy too. The Joker would first rob a bank and then murder all his accomplices in order to conceal his character. Still not satisfied with that, he later went to disrupt an expensive fund raising ceremony. Though the fundraiser was for a noble cause according to organizers, the Joker could only prove his psychotic behaviors by disrupting it. He then promised to kill all the citizens of a neighboring country called Gotham until his rival and adversary Batman revealed his true identity. The Joker then took over the role of the mob after killing all the bosses, in-charge of crime. He also killed a considerable number of police officers. True to his character, and by use of explosives, he demolished a hospital and watched it burn just like he wished to watch the world burn. He would then through out of the balcony a rival character’s girlfriend and then blew her up, still using his explosives. In the most striking act of villainy, the Joker would then burn up large stacks of money much to the amazement of the audience. In the most bizarre act of villainy, he planted explosives on two evacuation ferries. He then threatened the bombs that both of them would explode if they could not detonate each other (Waterman, 215-217).
In conclusion, these two characters would change the face of comical movies. Not because of their names alone, but also because of their theatrics in keeping their audiences at the edges of their seats. Their most memorable actions were those of their villainy.
