Kenya, a developing country found in the Eastern Africa region of the African continent is experiencing development challenges because of a myriad of problems. Top of the list is the mismanagement of the taxpayers money because of rampant corruption in government institutions. The leadership of the country is doing literary nothing to curb massive corruption perpetrated by government-appointed leaders. With the instances of looting and stealing of public resources, there is no way the living standards of the people of this third world country are going to improve.
Even though Kenya is experiencing financial problems that are as a result of corruption, the government is trying to improve the living standards of the citizens by establishing a good communication and transport network. Currently, there is the construction of a standard gauge railway that will make movement across the country cheaper and a lot easier for Kenyans. The standard gauge railway is projected to help in the promotion of a healthy environment because it will mean fewer vehicles on the roads and that will lower environmental pollution.
The recent past has seen the opposition of the country cite rampant corruption thus calling for the dismissal of some government appointees who have been implicated in mega corruption incidents in the country. The good thing is that the president sacked some of his cabinet secretaries (Wafula, 2015). That move has been cited as a major step in curbing corruption but much I yet to be seen because there are some cabinet secretaries that were spared despite proving that they are corrupt themselves. A lot of favoritism has been seen from the side of the government, and nothing good is yet to be achieved because there is a lot of laxity in the prosecution of the persons implicated in the corruption scandals.
