One of the best childhood memories I will always treasure is the day when I celebrated my seventh birthday. As a child, my parents have showered me with love and affection that I did not feel attached to material things to make me happy. I remember that when I woke up on my birthday, I felt that something special was about to happen. My parents influenced me to be the best I can do in everything I do, especially in school. I have always been a diligent student and I got good grades. My parents will always ask me if I wanted anything as a reward of my hard work. On my birthday day, when my mom picked me up from school, I thought we were headed home like the usual. I was surprised that she brought to the biggest toy stores in town and I was asked to choose three toys I wanted to take home. As a child, I considered that moment as the most memorable moment in my life. I have always wanted to have one of the toy computers and my mom was generous enough to buy that toy for me on my birthday. As we entered the car on the way home, I thanked my mom for giving me the greatest gift on my birthday.
As we were about to park on the driveway, I noticed that there were guests in our since many cars were line-up. When I entered our living room, I was surprised to see that all my friends and classmates were there to greet me on my birthday. I felt the warmth and sincerity of all the special people around me. I did not know that my parents and siblings had planned a surprise birthday party for me. I was overwhelmed to see our house decorated with colorful balloons, party hats and banners. I had to blink twice to see if everything that was happening was real. When it was time for my guests to sing a birthday song for me while I was in front of the dinner table about to make a wish and blow my candles, each one of them lined up to give me their presents. I was so touched and overwhelmed with their gesture that I almost forgot to blow the candles on my cake. When my mom sliced my favorite chocolate cake and placed it on my dessert plate, it was so moist and delicious that until now, the bittersweet taste of chocolate brings me back to my childhood.
It was truly a memorable experience for me as a child which I considered as the grandest birthday party I had in my life. The memory remains fresh in my thoughts since I can still vividly recall how I was able to memorize the facial expression of my parents when they saw how happy I was on that day. As the day ended and all the gifts were opened, I gave my mom and dad a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek for making my birthday a truly worthwhile experience. Every time I recall my fondest memory as a child, I cannot help but shed tears of joy whenever I think about my seventh birthday. The warm feeling of love and affection that my family has given me is most the beautiful experience I will forever cherish for the rest of my life.
