Monitoring the progress towards my personal and professional goals should be undertaken using performance evaluation on a regular basis. For instance, obtaining my bachelor’s degree in business could be monitored using standards, such as academic ratings, comments and feedbacks of professors on specific course modules, suggestions for improvements, and my ability to comply with academic requirements within stipulated time frames. For example, in a course on management where I am required to submit and comply this particular phase (the Personal Strategic Plan) within the week, I should be able to make the necessary plan, using theories and concepts learned from the course, as well as my personal and professional goals in life. I should strictly observe being able to submit the requirement within the stipulated deadline. As such, part of monitoring the progress of this particular plan is the scope of completion, the number of pages and sections that have been completed, as well as being able to submit this within the deadline. In addition, any comments or feedbacks from the instructor on the said plan should be address and needed revisions (if any) should be incorporated in the final plan.
The process of complying with all academic requirements in all course modules would be taken using the similar path. As such, compliance to project, attendance, and examinations are to be monitored using the course syllabus per subject. The rating that would be generated after the semester would indicate the manner by which I succeeded in achieving my academic goals.
For the goal of raising enough financial resources to funding my business, the manner of measuring progress towards this goal is to determine the amount of investment I need and the amount of savings I have generated through time. I should be able to make a comprehensive business plan to determine the requirements in venturing into the planned business (including financial resources, manpower requirements, equipment and office supplies, as well as competencies needed). In addition, I should also undertake a market research to determine consumers’ profile, competition, as well as opportunities and threats in the external environment pertinent to the planned business endeavor. Thus, the measurement of progress would include all documentary requirements to be set, as well as the funds raised which should be enough to venture into the business undertaking within stipulated time frames.
Finally, for the objective of raising happy, healthy, and responsibly productive children, as members of future society, I would be able to measure progress towards this goal through discerning how growth and development of my son (and future children) had contributed towards his living a high quality of life which is consistent with universal ethical, moral, and legal standards.
