Introduction
The Watchmen is a film that is based on an American epic set in a rather alternate non-fictitious and that narrowly tends to mirror the current world especially the world of the 1980s. The chief differentiating factor just lies in the existence of some superheroes as part and parcel of the film production. A single point of diversion in the plot tentatively takes place somewhere in the early years. The existence and involvement of the superheroes in this American version is portrayed to dramatically affecting as well as altering the forthright outcome of the well-known real-world occurrences inclusive of the War that was in Vietnam alongside the reigning era of one Richard Nixon. Literature analysis like any other, is worth the course and the "The Watchmen" film a 2009 American epic is a masterpiece full of characters that not only show ideals for a morally upright society but also bring out elements of vice.
The film is made up of different characters that play different roles and scenes to ensure that the concern of the playwright comes forth. Some of the characters are made for entertainment, others to keep the plot moving, others act as asides characters while others are fully and directly into the main idea being put forth and that is why the main and primary characters in any literature work. The film has been crafted to ensure that the targeted audience and the society at large are fed with moral values and how to shun vices that would rather be fatal to man's existence. This is only done and made possible through the involvement of different characters to rake different roles and be a symbol of the society we want and that that would be comfortable enough for any person to live in (Snyder).
The film involves a storyline where a vigilant gets brought to a close initiated by a crackdown involving the government, but just then one of the veterans under a mask gets murdered in a very brutal manner. Then follows an investigation of the killer that seems serial after that a reunion of the heroes come up to (or “intending to”) preventing their mess, however, in doing so they come to discover a rather deeper and more diabolical plot. In the very detail, we come to meet one character by the identity of Adrian Veidt, who is a vigilante and who is also known as Ozymandias. He is one character who has a belief that humans are more of a savage in nature than anything else and also got the idea that one getting a civilized can and will never be more than just an ideology. In his mentality and thinking one of his sins was as a result of the fact he despised humanity, took no much interest in what humanity was about and never gave humanity any single chance to a mutual understanding and mercy. He, therefore, resolved into mocking people’s existence as well as scorning the rest of the humanity and failed to give any just and fair hearing. To him, humanity was null and void and lacked meaning. These components incorporate weaknesses in social cooperation’s, social dialect and correspondence and debilitations of social creative energy and cliché interests. (Snyder). He rather did display, displays a feature that is mostly related to villainity in most of the superhero stories as well as movies, precisely, in a more exact and sensible manner he is regarded to be the villain character in the film. From such a life perception and thinking mentality he, therefore, banks on a decision to mock the society through extensive and persistence, fighting as well as taking away peoples' lives without any reservation.
He is described as a person full of ruthlessness, skepticism and who is nihilistic though still capable of some deeper insights as well understanding compared to others and alongside who is totally unlikable. Unlike others, he has been showcased to get driven by the virtues of greed as well as love and passion for violent doings and actions It also gets revealed that he Adrian was the one behind the murder of the one woman by the name of Marylin Monroe after an alleged order by Jackie Kennedy, this is despite the fact that of the rather strong and resolute innuendo arising from both him and The comedian truly known as Blake. According to Adrian justice has no place in the current world and an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth slogan should be the order of the day in a man’s existence, peace, tranquillity, joy and love are not part and parcel of him in existence. (Gibbons, Chip and Mike 9-121) Adrian believes in one who lives by the sword dies by the sword and for him there is no justice, there is no fairness, mercy, empathy and amicable existence.
There is no fair hearing in his world and believes violence is the order of the day and is the best weapon in solving issues of the society; he has no place for dialogue and agreement; he has no place for gentle reasoning and amicable peaceful solutions to problems and him war is the best option. In the film, he gets in the play with Jeffrey Dean Morgan as he gets placed as the one and only assassin of the American president by the name John F. Kennedy's and this gets illustrated at the film's opening montage. Adrian's morality is bleak and down very low in standardization and indigent rated as far as his relation to others is concerned. He is a barbaric and a very inhuman character who believes man does not deserve justice and peaceful coexistence with one another, hence his resolution to violence as the best and most preferred mode of problem-solving technique in life .
He is a very individual who has no chance for mutual understanding among people and has got no acceptable moral decadency as a human being. He is more of an animal than a human being, he is a very ruthless person full of pessimism and does not follow the moral code of nature of peace, love and unity. He also lacks a sense of the golden rule of being good to one another and showing others peace and where unity is the key to one's comfortable living. He is a very smart guy who drew his inspirations from one of the world's greatest fellow by the name Alexander. However, to him, there is no right and wrong and that something once was done is done, whether it has been done in the right way or otherwise, that is not his business. It is only in civilization and its relate courses that there exists the element and the idea of right and wrong and since he has no faith in man's level of the civilized world as well as humanity as a whole, the idea of either right or wrong is a mere fallacy and something once done is done. To him, an action does not need to satisfy any ones desire as he has no room for another person, this is a person who is so self-centered, personal and lives in his world of no law, justice, and moral decency .
In Comparison with another character within the works in the film he and Dr Jon Osterman also known as Doctor Manhattan are both portrayed as those who don't believe in social justice and takes to war, fighting and killings as the solution. For both of them, there is no social justice and peace, love and unity are not part and parcel of their existence, they live by the sword and shall die by the sword. They are both inhuman, barbaric and do not deserve to live as their morality is relinquished and spoilt by immoral beliefs and followings. Adrian develops the absence of moral, social justice in his existence as a human being influenced by his environment where he grows and develops into a very unjust character. Adrian lives up to the level of his superhero Alexander, the great Mathematician where he is taught on how to be smart, but backslides on the way on moving from the moral teachings of the moral, social law of social justice. Doctor Manhattan on the hand gets portrayed as one who believes in humanity and their habits, but still finds himself on the wrong side of life when he shows some elements of unfairness in his dealing. Gibbson, the playwright, depicts and creates Manhattan as a character who is nude in the sense of his lack of moral values, though he shows some elements of humanity and its habits. They are both showcased to be very crude, arrogant and a very violent creature has no room for social justice and who treats others like mere objects and not human beings.
Historically, Adrian is the same as the Jewish ruler by the name Adolf Hitler, who also had no place for social justice, and killings were the order of the day for him. (Allegretto 66) He, too, like Adrian believed in mass murder, fighting and wars as the only best and the most appropriate way to sort social issues out of his segregative nature. Adrian though shows elements of an inborn lack of social justice, Hitler shows no such signs at birth but later just develops an attitude towards the Jews and resolves to social injustice through murder as the only solution. Hitler just like Adrian had no room for and did not believe in the civilization of mankind and had no time for humanity as he did not have humanity values to foster peace, love and unity hence he was killing people with no empathy and humanity. Both of them show moral decay and social plights.
In comparison with Dr. Stockman a main character in the drama by Henrik Ibsen named An Enemy of the People, both of them got no place for social justice as the doctor also prefers the smashing of the baths that were the sole source of revenue for the people. This he does after his discovery that the water baths are polluted and therefore to him instead of looking for an in improvement plan he opted for the destruction of the water baths when the water baths were the source of the livelihoods for the people. The doctor, though, having some mercy for the people and stands up for them and comes out clearly to showcase and bring forth the rot in the baths though that was not medically recommended remained to be the source of revenue for the people regarding tourism. Both Adrian and the doctor have no social justice, though the doctor believes in human civilization and has got a sense of humanity, hence his quest to liberate, Adrian does not believe. Though the doctor has the social will and minds of the people and their health as well their stay, Adrian does not.
Conclusion
A person believes in morality and a good sense of consideration towards humanity. Just like another superhero by the name Walter Joseph Kovacs also known as Rorschach, an individual believes peace can be achieved through dialogue and mutual understanding and that violence is not a good recipe for solving humanity social issues. He fought for and continued crime doings in the film in spite of his outlawed status, and this brought him out as a peace-loving man who believes in social justice, fair hearing and equity. Adrian took Alexander the great to be his source of inspiration since Alexander was believed to be a man of high moral decode. Walter Joseph unlike Adrian had faith in social justice, freedom, man's civilization as well fairness and he went ahead to fight for social justice. I take the same stand and fight for high moral values. And that also forms part and parcel of my moral decency that man should be just and right to his fellow person and borrow ideas as well lifestyle from other great men and women. This should be done to mold people and show right paths to follow as far as being good for all is concerned.
