The world we live in today is the result of the human’s activity. The changes we face – are the consequences of our actions. The well – known saying – “the planet Earth is our home” – describes the truly situation as it is now and has always been before us. To be a citizen of the world, to finally understand the initial purpose – means to think globally. Where do the majority of the hardest struggles of the human kind come from? They come from the irreverent attitude towards nature. Our consuming approach does not predict the backwards actions, such as recovery, reconstruction, recreation and others of same type. Such model of the human’s behavior have led to horrible and extremely harmful consequences: illnesses and poverty are the main ones.
Since the dawn of times, people have noticed the indissoluble connection between nature and us. With the beginning of the industrial era, everyone seems to forget about the meaning of their destructive actions. Indeed, the technical progress is an irreplaceable part of the world’s development, as it forms the logical sequence of events. Fortunately, nowadays the humanity has become to open eyes to the cruel reality, using the achievements of the technical progress to improve the situation. A huge number of various organizations are making their contribution into this particular sphere of the human’s activity, engaging others to join them. So, the logical question appears – why does the environmental issue bother me the most or why do I care about it? As it was mentioned previously – “the planet Earth is our home” – in other words, this is us: the healthier environment is – the healthier the humanity is. Today we have come up to the issue of fighting the illnesses, disasters and cataclysms that appear on the regular basis; initially we must pay more attention to the origins of it – the damaging of the environment. Such types of actions may be compared to the way we are trying to deal with acne, forgetting about the healthy diets and doing sports.
There is a row of reasons, why is the issue of the environment so important. First of all, the air pollution: we are not only what we eat – but first of all what we breath. It is scientifically proved that those, who live nearby industrial zones with the high level of carbon emissions, are experiencing health issues more often than others. Especially, the ones, who are the most vulnerable, are the pregnant women. Consequently, it affects the childbirth and the health situation of the whole next generation. Second of all, the radioactive radiation we get from some fabrics and their products: the technique, if to be more specific. Third of all, the ground pollution or the rubbish issue, which is one the catastrophically high level of danger causing. Indeed, with the beginning of the twentieth century, the humanity has become to care about the environment more, bringing up the new strategy of three R’s – Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle. Today, we witness the first benefits of such actions; however the rubbish issue is still unsolved completely. Forth of all, the water pollution: the world slowly, but steady, runs out of the fresh water. Rivers are drying out and the seas and oceans are full of chemicals and other types of polluting. This causes not only the extinction of some particular species, but also increases the mortality rate among humans. As it was mentioned previously – the hope isn’t lost yet. There are a number of organizations that are doing their best in order to save the planet, engaging the others to join their campaigns. In the addition to it, it is important to mention that the environmental issue has been brought up on the international level. The United Nations Millennium Development Goals includes such aim, as “Ensure Environmental Sustainability”, which may also be considered a great step forward on the way to solving this particular global issue. ("United Nations Millennium Development Goals.")
As a conclusion, it is important to mention that the environment plays the prominent role in our lives: the way we treat it affects our present and future. Of course, the environmental issue is not the reason of all the catastrophes and cataclysms in the world, but it is leading to the majority of them. If everyone cared this issue would be solved much sooner.
