We observe current relevance in Judy Brady’s 1971 literal work “I Want a Wife” in which she presents a listing of the overall expectation of a wife's role in the era of the 1970s with the declaration of being a wife while proceeding to write of the persona of a husband that is listed in his expectations form his wife in service to him. Brady is current in her relevant presentation of the form of unrealism in the expectations of reduced fulfillment. As such the response in my view to this literal work is the application of clever techniques in her style of writing with a purpose that is effective with irony in her usage of listing that is a known attribute of a wife and a mother in typical mannerisms.
This is observed in her varied argument examples that Judy Brady’s arguments are relevant in the current times as observed in her delivery of a quick message with clarity as the message continues to provide adequate details in providing proof to her point. In addition , her use of quotation in the phrase "I want a wife" in all her examples provides a realistic emphasis of the responsibilities of the husband and the wife with formulation of the realization of the unrealism of such expectations in the entire fulfillment of the list irrespective of the method approach as well as how it is implemented. Her literal approach is of interest as she created a notion of the varied numbered points with the ideal wife being a wife of her own though it is not clear if this is the intention of the author or not that created the thought of the overbearing situation in the juggling of these responsibilities.
Furthermore, her arguments are relevant to the present times in the presentation of her argument of the notion of reaching the point of varied exaggeration of both the husband and wife roles with her portray of the husband as being lazy as well as need in his management of personal roles without consideration the his job or education to his wife. Furthermore, it should be noted that she provides a stating of the reasoning of being a wife with her work providing an exposure of the expectations of women and wives in society with her demand that are borderline of ridicule with mention of the standards that are double as she presents her desire to be a wife with no complaints but rather a listener to all problems. After an examination of Judy Brady’s “I Want a Wife" we cannot have the thought of comparison with the truthful comparison with the current wife with that of the 1970s with proximal portrayal of the wife's role in the 1970s;
Judy provides an embellishment of the wife as the single provider of the children with the single responsibility of up keeping of the house a she provides a sense of the bitterness as an ex wife without a happy marriage which remains relevant to the present times. We are also informed of the treatment of the wives in their typical state in the 1970s as the reader is informed of the shared frustrations with a tone sarcasm as mentioned earlier in the discussion of the point of perception of the man as well as the ease if she had a wife and the pleasure it would bring to her. This point reaches the reader with undervaluing of the wives as she effectively communicates her messages in her discussion of the ease of life with added discussion of the roles of a wife to their families as well as their husbands. Judy seems to formulate a basic assumption of husbands with a image of all being pigs which reveals a slight disgust tone as presented with examples of cleaning up after her children as well as the husband with comparisons of the husband and children who required to be picked up both as well as the assumption that the husband is cheating on the wife in the belief that the wife does everything for the husband and the children.
The overall argument presented in the conduct of a wife in the view of the male figure at a era when there was a formidable impact in movements stemmed in feminism in the early 1970s during which varied male figures were heckled as well as despised which was a considerable step in attaining their freedom from an era when the consideration was the norm. This still remains relevant today as the toning of the essay is filled with seriousness while also providing humor, sarcasm as well as drama with not attachment of seriousness to men at that time but providing a relation to the women then. In addition it was observed that Judy applied ethos throughout this work with the initial sentence " I belong to that classification of people known as wives. I am a wife" with no mention of being a mother establishing the tone that defines her as well as being a best example of the application of ethos which is evidently true in the current times.
