A multi cultural and vivid personality, who is proficient in English and Korean, and has completed a full comprehensive 3-year training course in School of Pharmacy, I am applying to the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Internationally astute, with a great aptitude for details, and excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills, I am especially gifted at problem solving and providing the first-class health care services and practice management. Growing up in a family of health care professionals in Korea, among which my grandfather was a pharmacist and other family members were nurses and a doctor, I spent my childhood in the surroundings of pharmacy. It was natural for me to be exposed to medical care since a very young age.
I will graduate in May 2014, from University of MD Eastern Shore School of Pharmacy, and am determined to acquire the practical know-how in a couple of hospitals that offer diverse training in different areas, and have a very good resident curriculum. Throughout many clinical rotations with great preceptors, I realized the high degree of my devotion to patient care and my affection for it. Being a fast learner and an exceptionally organized team player, I am a genuine person who truly cares about patients in order to provide a valuable benefit for the community.
Presently, my short term goal is to get accepted at Residency Program, to receive the supervision of a knowledgeable preceptor, and expand my knowledge via lifelong learning. My long term goal thereby is to become a confident and educated direct patient care specialist, and to interact with patients and competent healthcare professionals. I believe that true happiness comes from enjoying one’s work, and residency is a vital step to fulfill my precious long term goal. After completion of PGY-1, I will look forward to PGY-2 with a clinical focus on ambulatory care health services, since finishing the complete residency program will enable me to clearly define my career goals.
I am interested in pharmaceutical care practice in various hospital settings that provide access to a variety of patients. As a training practitioner, I am determined to develop a useful network of contacts with both professionals and researchers, and to participate in diverse areas of practice. Consistent Pharmacy Residency training will add a lot to my knowledge, skills, and abilities to properly adjust medication use in order to ensure optimal medication therapy. Building upon the acquired special competencies of my residency training, I will be able to solely focus on ambulatory care health services as the specific area of my practice.
Being a highly motivated Doctor of Pharmacy candidate with a special interest in Pharmacy Residency, and to further my personal and professional development, I regard the Pharmacy Residency as a great choice to a promising career in clinical pharmacy. Coming from a diverse educational and personal background, I am perfectly suited for the field in which I am going to lead my practice. Please consider my candidacy for the Residency program, and if given the opportunity, I will diligently work to make a difference and provide a lasting contribution to my health care organization.
Thank you for your consideration.
