Admission Essay
I have been interested in economics since those times when I started thinking about my career path. I have always been surrounded by people who had their own business or were related to trade and economy so that I admired the way they think and act. Nowadays I have made my decision and focused all my attention on Economics and Finance major at Texas A&M University. I am very delighted about applying for it, and I strongly believe that this is the right place to start my professional education.
Despite my young age, I have learnt what hard and challenging work is and have some practical experience. I was brought up in a single-parent family, with my mother having taken the role of the leading economic provider for a household of three. It was extremely difficult and tiresome for her and pushed me to start working at the age of fourteen. Luckily, me and my mother were employed in a family business owned by my grandparents. I find such working experience to be very beneficial for me because I think it defined my character and future aspirations in part.
When I worked there, I felt that my expertise was growing day by day turning me into the productive and mature person. I developed my listening skills and became passionate about what I do. Interacting with the workforce helped me to gain so important communication skills. The things they discussed and the entire environment around me helped me discover the fields I was especially interested in and define my personal ambitions and career expectations. However, I am also grateful for a unique opportunity to observe the realities of life in Nicaragua and routine people’s struggle for improving their standards of living. These things made me understand my role and vocation aimed at helping the poor and needy.
The Texas A&M University is one of the top-ranking educational settings in the state that provides students with excellent theoretical and practical skills. Getting knowledge and skills at this university is my dream that seems to be coming true. I aspire that I will be able to use them for the benefit of my country. Moreover, I believe that the diverse campus and truly international environment of this institution will help me become as cosmopolite as possible. I am eager to learn from other cultures and hear their experience. I know that I might face lots of challenges, but I am sure I will continue to grow as a professional.
I am applying as an international transfer student who wants to learn new things and get new experience. I want to become a successful professional who can work for the benefit of his country. I aspire to help my people to eradicate poverty and manage financial resources more effectively. I see Nicaragua as a more profitable, sustainable and economically developed regional power with a number of opportunities for the youth. I am aware that for such ambitious goals I should have courage and faith. The difficulties of my childhood taught me that good things come to those who are persistent and confident. Therefore, I believe that I can contribute to my country’s future and really seek for the opportunity to do this.
I look forward to having a chance to join the student community of Texas A&M University and experiencing all the opportunities and challenges of student life.
