Aging is a concept that has baffled biological scientists the world over. When it begins is more objective than factual. However, aging is synonymous with growth. As one attains full growth, they also commence aging. Therefore, aging is when growth rate of cells is greatly reduced implying that the rate of replenishing dead and worn out cells trails their rate of loss from the body. To know that one is aging, the bodily growth processes of extension and distension will significantly slow down. This deceleration occurs during the late stages of puberty when the body has taken up its full height. One realizes they have begun aging when they realize that they are no longer growing taller.
Since graduating high school, I have increased in height; the amount of body hair has increased too. This growth is not aging, however because I have not attained my full height. The reason behind this statement is that I am still growing; compared to my parents, I am shorter than both despite bearing a striking resemblance to my mother. Genetically, I am to take the height of one of them, possibly the one having dominant genes for height. Therefore, since I have not finished growing, I have not started to age.
Aging may also set in later than anticipated based on my current eating habits. Daily, I eat a heavy breakfast, following a 30-minute power jog, consisting of 50% proteins, 30% carbohydrates and the remaining 20% shared between water, mineral salts, and fresh fruits and vegetables. This lifestyle means my cells will favor the process of replenishing dying and dead cells over other processes that depict aging much longer than other peoples' cells replenish.
In addition to aging gracefully, my healthy lifestyle will eliminate some common problems associated to aging like diabetes, occurring due to decrease in insulin production, and high blood pressure incidents. However, my back and eyesight may age faster than the rest of my body. This potential aging is because of the time I spend seated in front of computer screens and television sets. Poor seating posture and the continued glare from the screens is accelerating the aging process in my back and eyes respectively.
Intermittent back pains and instances of blurred vision are some of the symptoms I experience that are common in aging individuals. Back pains have made it hard to maintain an upright posture. In addition, poor eyesight and the reliance on spectacles when reading is hinting at the poor state of the cells responsible for maintaining a youthful eyesight. To deal with the problem of back pains, I have employed the use of posture supporting chairs that enhance the back and spinal cords' support structure. This process of using a chair and practicing good sitting postures wherever I am will help nullify the damage on the back and revert my body to its youthful ways.
Aging and diversity is a term used to describe the distribution of an aging population. Culture, race, and the particular area where one has lived for most of their lives are possible factors looked into to determine any contributing factors, or general trends among the aging persons. Aging and diversity may also mean the different rates at which various sets of the population age across a wide geographical area.
