The concept of drug abuse results from the fact that the alcohol beverage leads to certain social costs and disrupts the required social behavior. The term defines the people who constantly engage themselves in alcohol intake. This term is necessary in the academic field. This is the best term because these people use alcohol excessively. The effects that alcohol has on these people also show that it is abuse. A while ago, people did not recognize the need of dealing with issues involving drug abuse. Of late, people consider drug abusers as people who endanger not only themselves but also the society as well (villiant1196). Drug abusers are responsible for all their action during their drinking escapades. Their individual decisions affect societal safety.
An individual that is drug dependant cannot go for several days without using the drug. The drugs affect the human nervous system after consumption. The way that these drugs affected the nervous system shows the negativity and effects of drug consumption. Acute consumptions of drugs could lead to very bad effects. Sometimes it could result to inaccurate functioning of the body. Drugs such as the alcohol affect the breathing systems. Such effects are fatal to the drug consumers.
As stated, the drugs affect the nervous system. Neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers that send the signal from one nerve to another (villiant,1996). Drugs tamper with this process. Drugs result in various behavioral effects. Usually drug abusers have lower alertness and impaired judgment. These factors even endanger the lives of other people. There are people in the society who do not change easily. There are people that do not listen to the various television commercials and advice from their friends.
