Apple Inc. is located in Cupertino California. The multinational technology company specializes in the manufacture of computer electronics, software development, and online services. Primarily, its products include the IPhone, MacBook, iPod, iPad tablet, and the Apple smart watch. In addition, the company has an apple store that stores consumers’ application. Notably, it is a public traded and has the highest revenue among information technology corporations. Besides, it is known for quality products and being one of the most valuable brands in the world. For this reason, I have decided to address Apple’s operation management and how it has made the corporation prosperous.
Apple maintains productivity by efficiently monitoring and evaluating its operations by criteria such as revenue per square feet, milestone per time and products units per time.
Remarkably, Apple process management involves a mix of the major policy makers who maximize the efficiency of the company by controlling operations. First, they design their goods and services through a chain of coordinated decisions. Second, on quality management, there is protocol to enhance quality control and standards. Third, Apple develops its workforce through programs that encourage them to be innovative in product design. Besides, they have a code of conduct that governs their suppliers hence ensuring no substandard products. Fourth, the company is strategically located with more than 475 retail outlets in 17 countries. Lastly, the company efficient office layout and design maintains workflow and meet customer expectations.
Apple is built on excellence. Thus, its human resource strategies focus on developing leaders who are motivated while mastering job design. On management supply chain, Apple has a streamlined an automation technique process that serves suppliers efficiently. In addition, they have adequate inventory and scheduling systems that maximize their capacity. Apple has created their competitive advantage by integrating their products as one. Their products have dominated the market with their luxury appeal and customer oriented products. Apparently, their protected ecosystem makes their devices lock their customer base. At this point, it is paramount to examine Apple order qualifiers; the company has enabled their products to stay in their market due to their appeal and uniqueness compared to other competitors who uses the android operating system. Moreover, the company orders winners results due to customization and luxurious nature of the devices. Production of Apple devices starts in America where design and engineering of the products start and then the products are assembled in Asia due to cheap cost of production.
In the recent years, Apple has risen to be an iconic brand but like its peers in consumer electronics industry, it faces concerns on human, labor and suppliers rights. Hence, to address these issues Apple has focused corporate social responsibility. On provider rights, it has tried to maintain relationships by ensuring accountability and automation of their operations. Moreover, the company has ethical considerations on the way they treat their workers. They have tried to provide clean and safe conditions. Further, managers work as a team with the employee to boost performance. Notably, Apple has enhanced sustainability by being in the forefront in campaigning against environment injustices. They have adopted green materials in their process of operations, used solar power, and protected forests as well as efficiently recycling waste. Remarkably, they are not only innovative in their products but also in environment sustainability.
If I had an interview with Apple, I would ask these three questions:
What do they term as success in supply management?
What is their level of risk tolerance in operation management?
How do they address the red tape that results when offshoring manufacturing?
