Sacking of Attorney General
Dana Loesch is a radio personality that is never afraid of speaking her mind. She always says issues as she sees them. In fact, she is one of the most vocal radio personalities in the current generation. In her latest show, which was on Tuesday 31, she raised different issues concerning the several aspects of the contemporary world and the lifestyles of people. In the first part, she criticized the people who are against the sacking of former attorney general of the federal government, Sally Yates (Loesch). In her argument, she states that President Trump did what other presidents in the past have done. She argued that it is not strange for a sitting president to get rid of his predecessor’s administrator, and this is what Trump is doing. In other words, he is getting rid of the employees of former President Barrack Obama.
For Sally Yates, it came as a form of a controversy because she had disapproved the president’s stand on gay marriages and immigration. Therefore, Sally was standing in solidarity with her former boss. However, President Trump’s administration is different from that of Obama, and so things are bound to be done differently.
It is worth mentioning that I entirely understand Loesch’s point on this issue. She is urging people to support the president and not to condemn him or criticize his every action; even when we clearly know that his intentions are to make America great again. What I understand from Loesch’s arguments is that every sitting president has his way of doing things. Hence, such an individual should not be judged. However, he needs to be supported for the general benefit of all Americans and the nation (Bloom 28). The host is playing her role in informing the public on the real issues because it is clear that people do not understand what President Trump is doing, or why he is firing President Obama’s staff.
Gender Inequality
In the second part of the show, Dana addresses gender issues with regards to gender inequality. What interests me in this section is the angle at which she approaches the problem. She states that some quotas in the United Kingdom are pushing for the term ‘expectant mothers’ to be dropped and be replaced with ‘pregnant people.’ Notably, the reasons that they are giving is that today, there are transgender people who may get pregnant, and need to be included in that category. Loesch finds it ridiculous because according to her, it is only women who can get pregnant and have babies. She condemns such people because she does not seem to understand how men who have transformed their gender can get pregnant.
2018 Senate Elections
In another part of the show, Dana analyzed the 2018 race for the Senate. She states that it would be paramount for the people to follow closely how events will be unfolding, especially for the Democrats. She said that the Democrats, who are currently trailing in the numbers in the Senate, will need more seats to have control. She argues that the Democrats need the additional numbers so that they can have a say in the selection of the chief justice. To add to that, Loesch noted that the Democrats need more seats in the Senate to have control in the management of the nuclear weapons. She stated that the race next year would be a defining moment for the Democrats, considering that the federal government is in the hands of the Republicans.
In essence, Dana is reminding Americans of the significance of the Senate race next year. It is important for the people to watch the race closely so that they can be informed of everything that goes on. Notably, being a member of the media, it is her role, and other journalists, to keep the public informed on matters of national interest. Apart from that, when people are more informed about such issues, they can make better decisions.
Conclusion
Dana is a show host who always speaks her mind on several issues. She addresses different matters, including politics and social issues. Some of the aspects she addressed in her last show were the sacking of the former attorney general, gender issues, and the upcoming Senate elections.
