Art, since ancient times, is described in varied shapes and styles depended on the events and developments that transpired at the times when a certain ideology or believe dominated the field of art. Art in general is designed to communicate certain themes and believes that touch on the philosophical, cultural, political, social as well as economic matters among others that transpired in the society in the past as well as in the present and past is reflected through artistic products and pieces produced. However, the paper presents two great artists that have transformed and inspired many artists and lovers of art in the world through their pieces and view that they regarded art. Pablo Picasso a Spanish artist and Paul Gauguin French artists have both produced outstanding artistic work that used visual arts styles of the early twentieth century known as cubism.
Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso produced over 20 000 pieces of art during his time and active life as artists. As a pioneer of cubism, many of his pieces displayed the view and styles that defined cubism. Picasso involved himself in many artistic features and products such as paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, theater sets and costumes that had mixed messages reflected in them such as political, social and amorous messages. During his early life, he spends most of his life living between France and Spain where he impacted and influenced on art from both ends. It indicated the commitment and passion that he had for the industry made him leave a great legacy behind of the many artistic features and products under his name. The products were influenced by his believes as he was transpiring and moving across borders of Spain and France. He met many artists that they worked together and introduced the perspective and style of art of cubism. He is, therefore, considered as the founder of the style alongside other great artists of the past. Picasso’s work that was made between the years 1910-1912 displays most styles and features of cubism that he developed with the interaction of his French friends in the early times and days of 1900s. The term and name resulted and was coined from the geometric forms in the highly abstracted works and they called them “cubes." The cubist rejected the inherent believe that had dominated the early times that the artists existed or that could adopt the traditional believes of perspective and modeling (Picasso, 1).
The artists, therefore, reduced and fractured objects into geometric forms that they later realigned into relief space in the shallow. The uses of multiple and contrasting vantage points were encouraged during such times. Picasso’s work presented many patterns that are displayed across many pieces of work that he did. The emotions and themes across many works and writing reflect the developments that take place in the society. Most of the work that he did reflected other features that do not necessarily touch on the nature as was the concept and requirement in most of the artistic features that were made in the past. He embraced the uses of color across many of his pieces and this resulted into a pattern that displayed and produced objects in real time as they would appear in the real situation. The style and pattern used made it easy for the audience to understand the different messages displayed by his works. The pattern noted from his work and readings do not reflect the natural world and features as was noted across many pieces from the time. His work and writings presented what came to be described as modernism that represented and used many features in the pieces that reflected on what transpired in the modern world representing the objects in the same manner as they would appear. He described the art as a lie that makes realize the truth and his work has impacted the development of modern and contemporary art with unparalleled magnitude.
