What is leadership? Leadership is simply means as the action of motivating a group of people to act or move to achieve a common goal. This meaning of leadership catches the effectivity of becoming a great leader through capturing the importance of the inspiration and action based upon his ideas, but it won’t happen if those ideas cannot be communicated to the group in ways they engages it (Ward, n.d.).
Will some traits make them become great leaders? Depending on the theory traits of leadership, a person who own some natural characteristics tend to become better leaders. According to a research Stogdill and Mann use to have that traits particularly connected to the likes of the person becoming a good leader to pass through different position. A faultfinder or a critic pointed out that in whatever way to be a leader is not for every person to possess and display the traits or character. But some researchers always state differently that a person who possesses a certain traits will absolutely become a great leader. So what exactly are the traits linking to be a better or great leader? Usually the greatest and common traits connected for great leadership are:
- UNDERSTANDING THE GROUP AND THEIR NEEDS:
Truly caring and helping the group members to succeed, also giving them complete attention will make an effective leader. How to do it? Be a communicator. After all communication is the most important skill of a leader. Everyone depends on it to understand each other. A leader cannot push or motivate his group to his plan of success if the group cannot understand what leader wants. The leader should treat his group as a team. This people look up to you as their team leader. Trust and believe in your team will improve If you as their team leader put to practice your communication skills.
- CAPACITY TO MOTIVATE THEIR GOALS:
Inspiring others and encouraging the group in doing their best included in becoming a great leader. It is not sufficient for the group to motivate in working to succeed. This group of people needs to work as a team to achieve the objective of the group. Anyway if we want these people to just enjoy doing their own thing, we don’t want a leader like you to mold them, do we? Motivating your team is useless if you don’t give them directions, and if you don’t move the team to a goal. It is the power to lead others that will sets a leader apart from their peers. In every level of organization you will find a leader. So be the one.
- EMOTIONAL STABILITY:
In addition for being dependable the best leaders have the ability not to over react, just avoiding it to control their emotions. Emotional havoc builds up when a person is filled with stress due to overwork. The leader becomes out of focus, becomes less tolerant, and makes him less effective if he is over-stressed. No one wanted to be near him if he keeps snapping at his group always. The solution to that, take a break, recharge your batteries. Relaxation is much needed to release the stress forming up in you. Lie down to a beach somewhere, inhale the fresh air, exhale the hateful stress and have a great laugh. When that sweet smile appears again in your face, when you return your productivity will increase, your team will happy to work with you as their awesome team leader. Then teamwork will be alive again.
