Response 1: The Say/I Say
The essence of academic writing basically relies on the capacity of a learner to become more knowledgeable about the things around him through research. That is not all; it also includes the capacity of one to become more expressive in presenting his own ideas and understanding based on how he has gained knowledge about particular issues that he has desired to explore. Personal expression is an important aspect of academic writing. While one reads through the thoughts of others, he is expected to become more expert in a specific issue thus giving him the chance to bring out his personal opinion about the said matters. The way one’s thoughts improves about a specific issue is considered to be among the primary concepts that define one’s capacity to become more expansive in the way he defines his thoughts specifically in the way he affects others’ perception about particular topics he wants to discuss with listeners or readers he targets to influence.
As mentioned by Graff and Birkenstein, research is indeed an important aspect of learning, and for academic writers, such act enables them to create responses that are necessary for the sake of determining a conceptual understanding of particular issues that have a distinct impact on the way they think and the way they influence others’ perceptions about issues that currently affects the society.
Response 2: Revolutions in Communication
I choose to use the modern mobile technology as the primary subject for my technology essay. Not only is this element considered the most modern among other forms of communication technology. It could also be considered as one of the most revolutionized system by which people intend to communicate with others beyond the borders and limitations of distance. To introduce the subject, I shall use a descriptive approach that compares the then-and-now situation of how communication has improved from telephones to mobile phones to smart phones that are flooding the market at present. Likely, exploration on this specific topic shall allow me to become more attached to the subject and make a more personal implication on how it affects me.
