A disability does not condemn a child to an idle life where they are not able to participate in games and sports just like normal children. But then it takes a lot of efforts and resources to have these children participate in sports and games just like normal children do. In the article Barriers to Participation of Children with Disabilities in Youth Sports it becomes apparent that the authors advocate for the inclusion of children with disabilities in games and other sporting activities but then some of the options they offer in order to ensure that these children are involved may take a very long time to implement.
Most of the youth sporting programs have been around for centuries and altering them may change these sporting activities may alter the games completely. It could have been practical that games, specially made for these children with disabilities be designed. A game like football may never be changed and even if it was to be changed, then the sport may turn out different all together (Moran & Block 2010). Other options can be explored where these children can have a game of football that is best suited for them where they are the only ones who participate in it. Anything different from this seems impractical altogether.
