The BITK (Be In The Know) College application was created by Felecia G. Coleman, a recent graduate from Hampton University. As the Present of Hampton University’s chapter of the American Marketing Association, Felecia had an idea to create a mobile app that allowed students to revolutionize the way information is shared, received, and most importantly, experienced, hence the creation of the BITK app. What does this app actually do? The BITK- College app is an information network that allows students to mobilize flyers. This app has the capability to create mobile flyers about organizational events or even campus parties and instantly send them as push notifications to all students subscribers. With this app, students around the country will always “Be In The Know.”
Currently, BITK has a well-structured website where potential consumers can find more information. Now that the app is up and running it is time to expand marketing tactics. Before BITK launched Felecia chose to market through personal relationships, within her inner circle. With promotional efforts to first, establish a solid ground of users to get the word out about the new app and its performance. This was done using today’s traditional social media postings, word of mouth, and informal campus speaking. Though this was not the only way she marketed it seem to be the most effective measures taken. The marketing efforts have been executed through brand merchandise, social media, campus ambassadors, motivational speaking, campus events, and “get paid to add your university.” Each of these tactics has contributed to the upcoming of the app.”
‘Be it the Know’ is a mobile application that enables people to have an awesome social life. The application is built to enable students at the university level subscribe to stuffs on the campus that they may care about. The application is an information network application. The application allows students to subscribe to clubs they are interested in, their favorite fraternities and sororities and many other subscriptions. The applications also allows students who have opened their own businesses, organizations and clubs and they are too busy to create posters and post them around campus create a mobile flyers in their mobile phones and then send them to their fellow student in their campus. Currently, the application is doing well in the market place.
The application targets students for its development. One of the major market strategies for the application is the introduction of the Do the Ride Thing tool. This tool enables students in the campus to pledge a loyalty of being the designated driver. Additionally, for the people who do not possess an iPhone or a smartphone can access the application through the company’s website which contains the same information. This is a market strategy the company is using to ensure that they do grow and penetrate into the information market. The introduction of new tools within the application also ensures that there is product development hence the expansion of the application usability.
In conclusion, the application was not introduced to tell the students not to drink but it was created to ensure that there is safety within the students. The application makes sure that the students have knowledge of what is going on in their campus.
