My inspirational quote to lead a team would be “believe you can, and you’re halfway there,” by Theodore Roosevelt. The reason this quote inspires me is that I believe in having a positive outlook on my performance. I think that self-belief is necessary to accomplish any job. Many people have the bad habit of self-doubt. These negative thoughts can be crippling and prevent people from giving their task their entire effort. After failing to complete their task, they use these negative thoughts as a justification for their failure. By believing in one’s self, they can shed the restraints of negative thought and self-doubt and provide themselves with every opportunity to finish their task.
I would use this quote to inspire my team by showing them the power of positive thinking. When discussing issues with my team and improvements that can be made in a department or on a service, using Theodore Roosevelt’s quote will inspire people not to take “no” for an answer and fight for the changes that they desire. This quote can be used in weekly staff and quality assurance meetings as a way to dispel that anything cannot be done.
Lastly, if I were to leave my position, I would have to leave a piece of advice as part of my legacy. I would take Roosevelt’s quotation and modify it to something that is easier to say and might be able to resonate better with my staff. I would leave them with these words: “If you believe it, you can achieve it.” This saying encompasses the same style of thought as the first quote, but it is blunter and easier to memorize. I believe in the power of self-believe and positive thinking. With these two thought processes on my side, I can do anything I set my mind to, and I would like my staff to follow my lead in accomplishing their goals.
