Diagnostic Information Gathering
First of all, with the help of two health inspectors, we will contact the fifteen victims and conduct an interview to know which foods they have taken within 24 hours and where these came from before they experience the symptoms of food poisoning. After this, we will look for similarities among the items. This will help rule out food items that are unlikely the cause of food poisoning, and the concerned vendors or restaurants will be identified as well. Then, we will conduct an inspection of the identified food vendor/s. We will examine the location, specifically where the food item was prepared as well as the cleanliness of the area. We will check if all regulations and policies for food preparations are met. The result of this preliminary investigation will then be provided to the manager within three days.
Thinking Skills
Based on the given list of workload, I will organize them according to urgency and importance to make sure that everything is done on schedule. First of all, six of the items are urgent (items 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 10). These items need to be taken care of on that same day, Monday. After identifying these most urgent tasks, I will organize them according to priority. I will start by taking care of items 2 and 9. These are about leave approval, and these are important to make sure that when employees take a time off, someone else can take their place in order to ensure normal operation. After, I will take care of item 7 and make corrective actions with the cash tray. This needs urgent attention because the finance department is expecting the corrections by noon. Next, I will attend to the customer who called to raise an issue and who wants to confirm the availability of his orders (item 8). However, since we will be talking about his Adirondack orders, I will have to attend to item 3 first. I will call the supplier and find out what caused the delay of orders and ask if it is possible for them to deliver a minimum of 20 lawn chairs within two weeks. This information is needed before I call the customer so that I would be able to confirm whether we can deliver the orders within three weeks. Afterwards, I will take care of item 10 and prepare for the monthly Health & Safety Meeting. Preparation is needed because I am the Chairperson of the committee. Next, I will prepare and attend the 10 a.m. meeting which is in line with the upcoming annual sale (item 4). Afterwards, I will attend to the next most urgent task, item 1. I will call the department manager in Nova Scotia and find out the reason why he/she called. After the call, I will take care of item 6 and let the employee know that I will make the necessary actions regarding the employee who reportedly smoked in the washroom. Lastly, I will take care of item 5. Since this is a personal task and the deadline is still a day after, it can be placed at the bottom of my to-do list.
Decisiveness
Bruce’s application is the one that I will recommend for approval because they are the most qualified for a housing unit. First, they currently don’t have a pet unlike before when they first applied for a unit. This is in contrast with Nancy, who has a service dog. Also, their combined income does not exceed $20,000 annually, and they have financial documents to prove it - unlike Gerry who declares to have under $20,000 income from student loans only despite the fact that he has been a member of a locally known band that performs for a fee. In addition, there’s no problem even if Bruce and Jarrod only declare 3 members of the family because they can always request for a change and approval from the committee in case they are able to adopt a child. Also, they are capable of volunteering for yard maintenance. Lastly, they have not been involved in any business-related activities from home, unlike Leanne who is still looking forward to work as a hairdresser, a career/business that she used to conduct from home.
