As a result this affected them negatively because they started losing customers because they started losing faith in their expertise. In addition it also led to the media talking about them and others giving false reports. For instance the Seattle times won several honors for publishing news on the Fred Hutchinson Research Cancer Center. However, Hutchinson claimed that the published articles were false.
It also resulted in destroying the reputation of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. People were disappointed at their refusal to take a hard and skeptical look at its own performance in past clinical trials. Moreover, more and more patients kept coming forward to sue the research center. They also lost some of their funding because they needed to compensate the affected patients who sued them in court and therefore, one way or another they needed money to take care of the lawsuits as well.
In general therefore, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center had a class action lawsuit filed against them by eighty families who were participants of an experiment involving blood cancer by the center that resulted in harming many people. One of the problems that arose as a result of the lawsuit was the issue of losing customers. The center, because of the numerous lawsuits filed against it made people lose their faith in them and doubt their expertise in conducting research and therefore some of them stopped working or do business with them. This was also contributed by the fact that various articles about the center were being published, others being false.
