Who works harder, Native born Americans or Immigrants?
The debate about who works harder in this country has is an argument that never goes away. There are many ways to view this question, but most often the argument often favors immigrants. The question itself could be tricky depending on the context, but there is no doubt to the fact that immigrants work harder in the United States compared to native-born Americans. Many Americans get offended by this, but really they should not be taking offense. Native born Americans have privileges that immigrants will never have, no matter how long they are in this country. Native born Americans have many opportunities compared to immigrants so they do not have to work as hard. Immigrants work very hard in this country and they do some of the most difficult jobs that are not wanted by native-born Americans. Immigrants work harder in America than native-born Americans.
First, immigrants go through a lot of rules to secure a work permit in America. Immigrants go through a difficult process to get a work permit to work in America. Many immigrants do not have the proper education or qualifications to get them corporate jobs. Immigrants do mostly labor work such as constructions, farming, housekeeping and many others. Also, most of these immigrants are paid below the minimum wage. This is because immigrants need work and they don’t have the option to choose which work they want to do. Their employers are willing to pay them lower salaries because they need the work more than the work needs them. Immigrants cannot complain about their salaries because they will lose their jobs and there are hundreds more who could be hired to take their place.
Secondly, corporations benefit from immigrants. Corporations are the main reasons why there are many immigrants in America. Native born Americans are capable of doing these same jobs that immigrants are doing, but they will not accept the horrible salary associated with the work. Corporations then opt out and bring in immigrants who work hard and are willing to accept a couple of dollars below the minimum wage. There is no way that a native-born Americans can pick farm produce, work construction and housekeeping and then accept a salary below the minimum wage. Native born Americans demand better jobs and immigrants are willing to the hardest jobs for the lowest pay. Corporations control immigrants because they determine how much they pay them and how long they want them to work without any objections.
Also, native-born Americans have the luxury of going to school and getting the right qualifications for good jobs. Native born Americans have the human capital and opportunities. For many immigrants school is not the main issue, they concentrate on making money to support themselves and their families. Immigrants struggle to become successful in America. Many immigrants have to work hard labor jobs for 20-30 years before they can buy a house or become financially stable. Native born Americans retire after 20-30 years of working. Immigrants do not retire at 65, most of them work till their bodies give up because they don’t have good benefits or 401k’s to help them retire. Immigrants work harder physically than native and they receive the lowest salaries.
Also, immigrants have a strong work ethic compared to native-born Americans; this does not mean that native-born American is lazy. Immigrants both educated and uneducated have a hardworking principle. Many immigrants grow with the ideology of working hard to create a life. Immigrants believe that working hard pays and opens the doors to a better future. Immigrants who do corporate jobs, work harder to get to the top because that the only they know they can get there. Most native-born Americans have been given everything on a silver platter so they don’t need to try as hard. Immigrants also face discrimination that’s why they have to work twice as hard to get what they want because they don’t have the same privileges as native-born Americans.
Immigrants in America work harder in America than native-born. There is a saying that “America was built by immigrants”. The privileges that native-born Americans have do not need them to work harder for jobs and many other things. Immigrants on the other hand start their lives from scratch in America. They work harder because they have nothing; this does not mean that native-born Americans are lazy. Immigrants do the jobs that native-born Americans don’t want to do, and they accept lower wages. Corporations are the main employers of immigrants, both for skilled and unskilled labor. Corporations hire immigrants to the hard work because they work harder for lower wages and they can also control them. Also, many immigrants grow up the principle of harder to get a better life. These are why immigrants work harder than native-born Americans. Native born Americans should not take offense that immigrants work harder because this is a fact and does not mean they are lazy.
