In accordance with the acts of employment and the law job evaluation has to be reviewed and be followed. Job evaluation helps to determine the efficiency of workers in any organization. According to the Wall street journal of 2015, April, 22 (Wickline) Lottery organization was eliminating some job positions to enforce efficiency and to reduce on wage bill. The process started after a serious job evaluation by finance department that brought up the idea. The lottery had to terminate some of the top employees but because they were enjoying employee benefit. Their benefits had to be fulfilled by the lottery organization. Louthian said that eliminating those positions allowed the affected employee to get their insurance coverage by the following month. In the class lecture it was clear that when employees are given papers to sign for the jobs whether it is on a permanent basis or contract there are some benefits to consider. According to the journal it confirms that the employees were enjoying some benefits. The positions that were eliminated included the Lottery’s public and legislative affairs director, human resource director, accountant and postal courier among others.
It is evidenced that the four employees were enjoying the benefits of insurance cover under Lottery Company which they would be paid in a month time. When a company has given its workers an employee benefits it should remit the benefit any time the workers are either retiring or dismissed. In the lottery company the changes done by eliminating eight lottery positions is one of the results for job evaluation. All the changes took place after they had abolished a nine member Arkansas lottery commission. It was placed under the state department of finance and administration’s management service division. It was the report from the finance department. That estimated and suggested that the state would save more than $400,000 a year when the eight positions will have been eliminated.
Among the eight people that lost their jobs in the lottery company. If some of them had disability then they would still have been given the disability benefits. Employers should put in account the many laws that exist about the employees benefits. Some are mandatory others are optional. When evaluating jobs and the employees benefit it helps the employer to understand which best benefits that their employees could benefit from. Employers have the right to decide which benefits among the optional one their employees should get. While referring to the type of work and its status either permanent or on a contract basis.
In conclusion evaluating jobs means setting payment structures, designing benefit plans, finance benefits, health insurance, disability or retirement benefits for permanent employees. As personnel in the finance department the interest of the company finance should be at the heart without avoiding the benefits of the employees. In a personal life all the employee benefits are very crucial. Whenever employment comes considering the most important benefits and the compulsory ones should be the first option depending with the status of the job being offered. That has helped me to understand and internalize the importance of having those benefits as employee. For all the businesses under my management different benefits have been initiated to benefit my employees. It is a crucial topic for both employers and employees in order to avoid being taken advantage. For employers to avoid being taken to court for avoiding employees benefits both should follow the law.
