Description of the Project
The project required the collection of data on the number of volunteers in several volunteer organization. This project focuses on 21 global non-governmental organizations. The data is organized into three main columns which include the name of the organization, estimated number of volunteers (as provided by the organization), and the ‘what they do’ column which gives information on the activities that the non-governmental organization engages in. The objective of the project is to determine the volunteer organizations that attract the highest number of volunteers by sector
Analysis of the Data
In the analysis of the data, the project focused on assessing the number of volunteers by sector. The sector were categorized into six latent classes with the latent classes describing the nature of activities that the organization engages in. The rationale of this categorization was to determine the sectors that attract more volunteers.
The analysis employed the use of various functions. The functions and formulas used in the analysis include the AVERAGE, AVERAGEIF, COUNTIF, and SUM functions. Additionally, the paper employed the use of the percentage computation formula. The formulas used in the analysis are indicated in the table above.
In addition to the use of the formulas above, the project employed the use of the chart analysis tool. The rationale of using the chart analysis tools is to provide visuals for the analysis considering the fact that data analysis using chart tools presents a more readable and more attractive way of presenting the information especially where a lot data is used. The charts and graphs used in the analysis are as provided below. The charts have been provided complete with chart titles, axis labels, and the data labels to increase readability.
Conclusion
The analysis of the data indicates that the highest number of volunteer organizations involves organizations that deal with animal welfare. In the analysis, the animal welfare latent class was set to include organizations dealing with wildlife protection, farm animals’ protection, and animal rights. The analysis also indicates that the health sector attracts the highest number of volunteers. These include people who take care of the aged, professional registered nurses, first aid providers, doctors, and other medical personnel dealing with specialized treatments including Alzheimer’s, heart diseases, and cancer among other health conditions. Consequently, it is highly likely that a person would be accepted as a volunteer in the healthcare sector as compared to other sectors. In other words, there are more opportunities for volunteers in the healthcare sector.
